Our Emergency Department is located at 3 Dove Avenue, Salem, MA 01970, on the campus of Salem Hospital. The Salem Hospital Emergency Department has 65 private patient bays, a dedicated waiting room for our pediatric patients, a Medical Observation Unit, and dedicated space for our behavioral health patients. We provide both adult and pediatric emergency care. We are a Level III Trauma Center, a highest-ranked Stroke Center, and the first hospital on the North Shore to offer advanced care for sexual assault patients.

We are looking for a seasoned Physician Assistant (PA) to work an average of 40 hours per week over the course of a 13-week schedule. This is a rotating shift position (combination of days and nights). Weekends and holidays are included. Our PAs work under the supervision and direction of our supervising physicians to ensure high quality, safe and timely care for patients with various chief complaints. The PA team manages very sick patients, handles various high acuity procedures, and performs medical screening examinations in order to stabilize and treat those seeking services from the Emergency Room. The PAs also respond to any acute issues that arise during the patients stay, follow up on results, and determine if patients should be admitted or discharged.

The Physician Assistant (PA) is a licensed provider. The PA is responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients, medical and/or surgical, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation.

Essential Functions:

• Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in the ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural setting.
• Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
• Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
• Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
• Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
• Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes and discharge summaries.
• Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.

Qualifications:

Education: Master's Degree Physician Assistant required.

Licenses and Credentials: Physician Assistant [State License] - Generic - HR Only required.

Experience: Experience as a licensed Physician Assistant preferred.

Preferred: Three years of ED experience.

Pay Range: $122,803.20 - $224,931.20/Annual.
