The Project Engineer will work directly for the Project Managers on construction projects. The successful candidate must have a basic understanding of project management, site development and critical path scheduling. Competitive Weekly PayPaid Time Off401(K) with Employer MatchWork/Life Balance and Community InvolvementComprehensive Health Benefits including; Health, Dental, VisionLife/Disability InsurancesEssential Responsibilities:Project SupportAssist Project Managers and Superintendents with daily project management activities.Review project plans, specifications, and contract documents.Help prepare Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, and change order documentation.Maintain project files and documentation.Field CoordinationVisit construction sites regularly to monitor progress and support field operations.Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, surveyors, and inspectors.Assist with tracking production quantities and project progress.Help ensure work is completed according to plans and specifications.Cost and Schedule ManagementAssist with project scheduling and work planning.Track material deliveries and subcontractor activities.Support budget and cost tracking efforts.Help prepare project reports and progress updates.Quality and SafetyPromote and support company safety policies and procedures.Participate in project safety meetings and site inspections.Assist with quality control documentation and inspections.Help ensure compliance with project requirements and regulatory standards.Technical ResponsibilitiesAssist with quantity takeoffs and earthwork calculations.Review grading and utility plans.Coordinate survey and layout activities.Support project closeout documentation and final record keeping.QualificationsDegree or coursework in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related field or 2 plus Years Experience In related field.Strong interest in civil construction, grading, earthwork, and site development.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and construction plans.Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Project, and Teams.Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.Preferred QualificationsInternship, co-op, or field experience in construction or engineering.Familiarity with Bluebeam, Procore, AutoCAD Civil 3D, AGTEK, HCSS, or Microsoft Project.Basic understanding of surveying, grading, or earthwork operations.Key Traits for SuccessWillingness to learn and take initiative.Positive attitude and strong work ethic.Ability to work effectively in both office and field environments.Strong attention to detail.Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.Physical RequirementsAbility to work outdoors on active construction sites.Ability to navigate uneven terrain and construction environments.Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb for extended periods during site visits.What We OfferHands-on training and mentorship from experienced construction professionals.Career growth opportunities within project management and operations.Exposure to large-scale grading and site development projects.Competitive compensation and benefits package.Collaborative team environment focused on safety, quality, and professional development.Typical Projects: Commercial site development, industrial facilities, residential communities, public infrastructure, grading and earthworks, and roadway improvements.AAP/EEO STATEMENTSunland Asphalt is an EEO/Affirmative Action Employer
