Position Summary The Senior Accountant is a control-critical role responsible for accounts receivable ownership, balance sheet integrity, and timely close execution across the MidCentral platform. This position partners closely with operations and applies sound accounting judgment while operating within centralized corporate accounting standards. Essential Functions Platform Accounting & Close Execute and support the monthly close for MidCentral and related entities Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with corporate accounting policy Own assigned balance sheet accounts, including full reconciliation, support, and issue resolution Maintain close schedules and ensure timely completion of close deliverables Partner with management and operations to resolve accounting issues and judgment items Accounts Receivable & Working Capital Own AR execution, billing support, and collections follow-up Monitor AR aging and escalateg collection risks proactively Work closely with sales and operations to resolve billing disputes and timing issues Support working capital discipline through accurate cutoff and follow-up Financial Integrity & Controls Ensure transactions are recorded accurately and consistently Support internal and external audit requests with complete documentation Maintain strong cutoff discipline and accrual accuracy Identify control gaps and recommend process improvements Systems & Process Support NetSuite transactional accuracy and reporting integrity Maintain accounting schedules and supporting documentation Participate in process improvement initiatives related to close, AR, and reporting Cross-train with other accounting team members to ensure coverage and continuity Non-Essential Functions Other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA's) for Position Effective performance in this role requires the following: Knowledge Policies, practices, and procedures of MidCentral Energy Principles of customer service. Economic and accounting principles and practices, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data Adhere to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) procedures and guidelines Accounting and finance ethics Generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) Understanding of generally accepted auditing standards Financial statement preparation and balance sheet reconciliation practices Working capital management and accounts receivable controls Internal control concepts and audit documentation standards Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems Skills Strong analytical and reconciliation skills Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Excellent organizational skills and time management Ability to exercise sound accounting judgment Process improvement mindset Ability to provide informal guidance and cross-training to accounting team members Abilities Practice and foster safe work methods, identify workplace hazards, and use appropriate safety equipment Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, professional colleagues, clients, customers, and the public Ability to operate effectively within centralized accounting standards Ability to partner with operations while maintaining financial control Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment Ability to identify financial risks and elevate appropriately Ability to work extended hours during month-end close or audit periods as needed Regular, timely attendance is a requirement for this position Physical Demands Required to walk, sit, and stand for long periods of time Push, lift, and carry up to 10 lbs Bend, stoop, kneel, and move intermittently throughout the day Primarily office-based work environment; occasional visits to operational sites may involve exposure to active industrial environments and outdoor weather conditions Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or closely related field Five (5) years of accounting experience in journal entries, reconciliations, month/year end close, financial reporting.
