The Materials Supervisor reports to the Senior Materials/Supply Chain Manager. The Materials Supervisor oversees material planning, inventory control, supplier coordination, and the movement and storage of materials required to support manufacturing operations. This position ensures materials are available in the appropriate quantity and timeframe to meet production requirements while maintaining inventory accuracy, controlling material costs, minimizing shortages and excess inventory, and leading assigned Materials, Planning, Inventory, and Warehouse employees. The role works closely with Production, Purchasing, Engineering, Quality, Sales, and Finance to support production schedules and on-time customer delivery. Key Responsibilities:

• Develops and maintains material plans based on production schedules, customer demand, forecasts, inventory requirements, and supplier lead times to ensure materials are available to support manufacturing operations.
• Monitors material requirements and proactively identifies and addresses shortages, delivery risks, capacity constraints, and scheduling conflicts before they affect production.
• Establishes and maintains appropriate inventory levels, safety stock, reorder points, and ERP/MRP planning parameters while minimizing excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory.
• Oversees inventory-control activities, including cycle counting, physical inventories, inventory transactions, discrepancy resolution, material traceability, and inventory-record accuracy.
• Coordinates with Purchasing and suppliers to monitor purchase orders, supplier commitments, lead times, delivery performance, shortages, and quality concerns and supports recovery and cost-reduction efforts as needed.
• Oversees the receiving, identification, storage, issuing, handling, and movement of materials to ensure timely and efficient support of production operations.
• Improves warehouse organization, space utilization, material flow, and material-handling practices while promoting accurate inventory transactions and proper traceability.
• Supervises assigned Materials, Planning, Inventory, and Warehouse employees by establishing priorities and performance expectations, providing training and development, evaluating performance, and addressing performance issues as appropriate.
• Develops cross-training and promotes accountability, teamwork, safety, continuous improvement, and department flexibility to ensure effective operational coverage.
• Analyzes material shortages, inventory variances, supplier performance, and production interruptions to identify root causes and implement corrective, preventive, and continuous improvement actions using Lean Manufacturing, 6S, Kanban, visual management, and other appropriate methods.
• Monitors and improves key materials performance measures, including inventory accuracy and turns, material shortages, supplier on-time delivery, excess and obsolete inventory, cycle-count accuracy, MRP accuracy, warehouse productivity, and production schedule adherence.
• Perform similar or related duties as assigned

Key Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field preferred
• 2 to 3 years of materials management, supply chain, production planning, inventory control, or related manufacturing experience required.
• 5 to 7 years of demonstrated leadership and team-management experience preferred.
• Responsible for making recommendations within one department in the areas of compensation, employee selection, disciplinary action, complaints, employee performance appraisal, and similar supervisory duties.
• Plans, assigns, and evaluates the work of subordinates for effective operation and results of the unit.
• Requires practical experience and a solid understanding of procedures, reference materials, and standard tools or equipment used in the job.
• Requires knowledge of material requirements planning, inventory management, production planning and scheduling, material flow, warehouse operations, purchasing and supplier coordination, and manufacturing supply-chain processes.
• Requires working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems, inventory-control methods, forecasting, safety-stock and reorder-point concepts, and material performance metrics.
• Knowledge of S&OP, demand planning, capacity planning, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma practices preferred
• APICS/ASCM certification, such as CPIM or CSCP, preferred.
• Must be a licensed driver with a safe driving record, subject to Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review.
• Strong leadership, organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to supervise employees, manage competing priorities, and respond effectively to changing production requirements. Strong communication and relationship-management skills for working across production, supply chain, and supplier relationships.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and applicable ERP/MRP systems, with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and maintain accurate material and inventory information.
• Non-climate-controlled factory environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air temperature occasionally, with exposure to weather conditions, moderate noise, fiberglass, and dust in designated factory areas.
• Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing and data entry.
• Occasional standing, walking, and reaching Ability to lift up to 10-15 pounds in an office setting; ability to lift 40 pounds, when necessary, in production areas.
• Visual acuity to view screens and read documents
