Response Officer I (Evenings) - Protective Services - OFMD

* Responds or reacts as a team member to emergency and non-emergency incidents (medical, law enforcement, injury/accident, et al) on campus. Takes action, or makes notes for follow-up, of any safety and security issues. Provides Emergency Management support during larger-scale incidents. When not on assignment, patrols the University properties.* Receives/compiles information for incident reports and conducts initial and follow-up investigations, as assigned, under the direction of an RO II or Lead Officer.* Conducts building checks which include checking access control devices, door locks and proactively looking for any possible safety or security hazard. Uses problem-solving skills to resolve issues found during building checks.* Provides necessary follow-up (transports to the medical facility, notifies proper authorities, and undertakes any other necessary coordination) for faculty, staff, students, and visitors after immediate resolution of an incident.* Assists Medical Center personnel and visitors with directions and provides escorts when requested. Partners with customers in assigned geographical areas and assists them in resolving multi-department issues.* May serve as an instructor for skills training and certifications.* Takes possession of found property, attempting to locate the owner, and securing property according to established procedure.* Enforces parking regulations and provides support to the Transportation Office as needed.* Performs other duties as assigned.* Typically sitting at a desk or table* Typically standing or walking* Typically running or climbing* Typically bending, crouching, and stooping* Repetitive wrist, hand or finger movement* Ability to move to on and off-campus locations* Dust, dirt, grease, or other disagreeable elements* Ability to obtain and maintain a St. Louis Metropolitan Security License within 30 days of hire.* Must obtain and maintain a Missouri Class E or Illinois Class D Driver’s license within 30 days of hire.* Obtain and maintain certification for Taser, OC Spray, Collapsible Baton, and Handcuffs.* Applicants with a security license may already have these endorsements listed on their license and will be required to transfer to WashU.* We have trainers who will assist those who need to get a specific endorsement for Private Security.* If no previous departmental psychological assessment has been completed by the individual, a psychological assessment will be necessary for this position.* Up to 22 days of vacation, 10 recognized holidays, and sick time.* Competitive health insurance packages with priority appointments and lower copays/coinsurance.* Take advantage of our free Metro transit U-Pass for eligible employees.* WashU provides eligible employees with a defined contribution (403(b)) Retirement Savings Plan, which combines employee contributions and university contributions starting at 7%.* WashU covers the cost of tuition for you and your family, including dependent undergraduate-level college tuition up to 100% at WashU and 40% elsewhere after seven years with us.Washington University in St. Louis' collective success is significantly attributed to the passion and outstanding efforts of our community.
