Description: Profile review and manager interview required. Clinician must take and pass a dysrhythmia exam within two attempts prior to signing the contract. If the clinician fails to score 80% in two attempts, then they will be designated as DNU for 6 months. Candidates may not be employed as full-time, part-time, or PRN within the past year. Unit contains 10 beds with varying acuity levels. Ratios are dependent on acuity: ICU 1:2, PCU 1:4, MST 1:5-6. If no nurse aid is available, RN will provide primary care to 3 patients. Required certifications include BLS and ACLS. Common diagnoses in the unit include sepsis, suicide attempts, drug or alcohol withdrawal, COPD, respiratory arrest, pneumonia, COVID, DKA, and abnormal blood pressure or heart rate. Experience with both ICU and PCU/Med Surg is preferred especially if coming from larger facilities. RNs are required to titrate drips including sedation, vasopressors, and insulin. Charge RN oversees 50 inpatient beds across different acuities. NAs manage 10-15 patients; if no NA is present, RN will take care of 3 patients. Respiratory therapy equipment such as vents, Cpap, and BiPap is available with support. RNs must take 12-lead EKG readings. Shifts are 12 hours, with rotating weekends and holiday requirements. If low census occurs, staff will rotate standby shifts. RNs may be required to float to different units for competency maintenance. There is a two-hour notice before floating assignments. Currently, any scrub color is permitted except for camouflage. Unit-specific orientation is provided based on departmental needs. Charting will be done using Cerner.
