Facilities Management (FM) provides maintenance, grounds, and custodial services to the entire campus. FM serves as a partner with Contract Colleges, Endowed, and Student and Campus Life.

As a key steward of the University's facilities, FMis responsible forfacility assessments, skilled trades, general construction, building care, grounds, recycling, asbestos, and the management of planned, corrective, and preventive maintenance.

Assist Journeyperson Plumber in all aspects of plumbing trade,maintainingshop machinery, tools, equipment, and reading/interpreting blueprints. Gain knowledge and experience during the apprentice training period. Upon successful completion of apprenticeship, employee will be classified as a Journeyperson.

This is a benefits eligible, union position within the BTC.The starting pay rate is $22.95 per hour, with variations based on the apprentice year.

Werequirethese qualifications:

• Experience modeling values that support inclusion, belonging, and wellbeing.

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Mechanical aptitude for equipment repair and maintenance.

• Excellent verbal and written skills, customer relations skills, and the ability to work in a teamenvironment.

• Must belong to the local Plumbers and Steamfitters Union or be able to join within30 daysafter starting employment at Cornell.

• Must have andmaintaina validUSdriver's license; may berequiredtooperatea motor vehicle (your own vehicle or Cornell-owned) to travel to/from job sites.

• Ability tomaintaina safe work environment.

• Risk exposure to asbestos, toxic vapors, heat, cold, height and accumulated dirt.

• Available to work overtime as duties require, including weekends.

• Possibility of shift work.

• Able to ascend and descend heights and have agility and freedom of movement.

• Climb stairs and ladders.

• Able to move easily in confined spaces.

• Ability to wear a respirator and other employer-provided safety equipment.

• Ability to lift and/or move 50 pounds.

You will be a top candidate with our preferred qualifications:

• Work experience in the plumbing/control field and formal training beyond high school strongly desired
