A Day in This Role

Picture this: you arrive on site, review the day’s priorities with your supervisor, and stage materials, tools, and equipment for the remediation crew. You work outdoors in changing weather, using a wide range of hand tools to dig, move and compact soil, and clear hazardous and non-hazardous debris. You support craft workers, masons, and mechanical foremen as needed, keep communication flowing with company personnel, and follow detailed instructions to complete assigned tasks efficiently. Throughout the day, you wear proper PPE—headgear, ear plugs, gloves, safety glasses, respirator, and protective clothing—and follow health and safety rules while onsite, operating equipment, and driving. Before heading home, you clean and store tools and equipment, and you might share your know-how with fellow Environmental Field Laborers while learning new skills from coworkers.

What You Will Do

• Stage materials, tools, and equipment to prepare each site.
• Execute project tasks following supervisor direction and company procedures.
• Use hand tools and equipment to complete daily remediation activities.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations and wear required PPE at all times.
• Perform earthwork such as digging, moving dirt, and compacting soil.
• Assist contractors (craft workers, masons, mechanical foreman) as needed.
• Maintain proactive communication with team members and supervisors.
• Train peers on familiar tasks and expand your skills by learning from others.
• Clean up work areas; properly clean and store tools and construction equipment.

Training and Certifications

• Have or be willing to obtain 40-hr OSHA HAZWOPER with annual 8-hr refresher.
• After fifteen (15) months of full-time employment, Firstech will help you train for and obtain a valid CDL driver’s license for company use.

Qualifications

• Valid, clean New Jersey driver’s license (no points) and reliable transportation (required).
• CDL Class A is a plus.
• Able to stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 100 pounds.
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
• Skilled entry-level to labor experience: 2 years.
• Construction experience: 1 year (preferred).
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Work location: In person.

Compensation and Schedule

Full-time. Hourly rate $24.00–$28.00, commensurate with experience, plus OT at time over 8 hours/day.
