The Shipping and Receiving Clerk works in a clean, organized warehouse handling scientific products. This role focuses primarily on accurately picking orders using powered industrial trucks and RF scan guns, preparing and labeling outbound shipments through UPS and FedEx in a NAV computer system, and assisting with receiving inbound products from trucks. The position requires strong attention to detail, comfort with warehouse technology and computers, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs as part of daily tasks.

Responsibilities

• Pick scientific products in the warehouse with high accuracy and productivity, striving to meet or exceed established order-per-hour targets.
• Use reach trucks, cherry pickers, and RF scan guns to locate, pick, and move products safely throughout the warehouse.
• Inspect products before shipment and clean items that are dirty to ensure they meet quality standards.
• Label and prepare outbound shipments using UPS and FedEx systems, working within the NAV computer system to process orders and shipping documentation.
• Spend approximately 70% of the day picking orders with powered industrial trucks and RF scan equipment, 20% labeling and processing shipments on computers, and 10% assisting with receiving activities.
• Assist with receiving products from trucks, including unloading, checking, and organizing incoming items, and lifting up to 50 lbs several times per day as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of picked, packed, shipped, and received products using RF scanners and computer systems.
• Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe, following warehouse procedures and best practices.
• Ask questions and seek guidance from leads and teammates to understand processes, resolve issues, and continuously improve accuracy and efficiency.
• Learn and work across multiple warehouse zones, becoming familiar with the responsibilities and layout of each zone within the first few weeks.
• Support general labor tasks such as palletizing, packing, and moving products using walkie riders and pallet jacks.
• Communicate clearly with team members and leads about order status, issues, and process improvements.
• Offer flexibility to work additional hours or overtime when needed to help the team prepare for the next days workload.

Essential Skills

• Previous warehouse experience, ideally with order picking responsibilities.
• Hands-on experience working in a receiving environment.
• Proficiency using RF scanners to pick, track, and manage inventory.
• Experience using powered industrial trucks (P.I.T.), including reach trucks and order pickers/cherry pickers.
• Comfort working on computers to perform shipping tasks and process orders.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs several times per day.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain an orderly work area.
• High attention to detail to ensure accurate picking, labeling, and shipping.
• Willingness to follow established processes and ask questions when clarification is needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Familiarity with less-than-truckload (LTL) shipping processes.
• Experience using Excel for basic data entry or tracking.
• Ability to use UPS and FedEx shipping platforms for labeling and processing shipments.
• Flexibility within a schedule, including openness to working 34 hours of overtime when needed to support the team.
• Strong written and oral communication skills for coordinating with colleagues and leads.

Work Environment

The role is based in a smaller warehouse with a team of approximately 15 or more warehouse pickers, dedicated to providing laboratory equipment to scientific labs. The facility is very clean and organized, divided into multiple zones that employees are expected to learn within a few weeks. Work involves frequent use of reach trucks, cherry pickers, RF scan guns, walkie riders, pallet jacks, and computers running a NAV system, as well as UPS and FedEx shipping platforms. The pace is productive but focused on accuracy and safety, with an emphasis on following processes and asking questions to improve. Steel-toed boots are required as part of the dress code, and employees may be asked to work 34 hours of overtime when needed to ensure the next days operations are set up successfully.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
