Accounting Manager

Banyan Treatment Centers is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to own the full-cycle monthly close and serve as a technical accounting resource for a growing, multi-site behavioral health organization. As Accounting Manager , you will: Report directly to the Controller who will provide hands-on professional development Own the full-cycle monthly, quarterly, and annual close and be the technical accounting resource others rely on for non-routine questions Lead the accounting workstream for acquisitions, including opening balance sheet preparation, purchase price allocation, and post-close integration Bring both the technical depth to resolve judgmental accounting issues independently and the operational discipline to close the books accurately, on schedule, every month Manage the day-to-day accounting operations for a growing, multi-site behavioral health organization KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Month-End Close and Financial Reporting Own and execute the full-cycle monthly, quarterly, and annual close across all legal entities and locations, meeting an established close calendar Review and approve journal entries, accruals, prepaid amortization, fixed asset activity, and recurring allocations prepared by the accounting team Prepare and review balance sheet account reconciliations, resolving aged and unexplained items on a timely basis Produce consolidated and site-level financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP, with supporting variance analysis and written commentary for the Controller and executive leadership Drive continuous improvement of the close: shorten cycle time, eliminate manual workarounds, standardize workpapers, and strengthen documentation Purchase Accounting and Acquisition Integration Lead the accounting for business combinations under ASC 805, including purchase price allocation, valuation of identifiable intangible assets, goodwill recognition, and measurement period adjustments Prepare acquisition opening balance sheets and reconcile pre-close target records to the post-close general ledger Coordinate with valuation specialists, transaction advisors, and external auditors to support and defend acquisition accounting conclusions Integrate acquired locations into the chart of accounts, close calendar, and reporting package; establish consistent accounting policies across newly acquired entities Account for post-acquisition items including contingent consideration, working capital true-ups, and intangible asset amortization Technical Accounting, Controls, and Compliance Serve as the in-house technical resource on revenue recognition, leases, accrued liabilities, and other judgmental areas; research and document accounting positions in formal memoranda Draft and maintain written accounting policies and desktop procedures Design, document, and monitor internal controls over financial reporting; identify control gaps and implement remediation Manage the annual audit and any transaction-related diligence: prepare schedules, coordinate the request list, and act as primary liaison to external auditors Support tax, regulatory, and payor-related reporting requirements as they intersect with the general ledger Team Leadership and Cross-Functional Partnership Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff; set clear expectations, review work product, and provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback Partner with revenue cycle, operations, payroll, and site leadership to ensure transactions are captured accurately and issues are resolved at the source Support system implementations, integrations, and process automation initiatives affecting the accounting close Complete ad hoc analysis and special projects as directed by the Controller and CFO QUALIFICATIONS Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license in good standing A minimum of two years of public accounting experience with a Big 4 accounting firm in audit or transaction/technical accounting services Demonstrated hands-on experience applying ASC 805 business combination accounting, including purchase price allocation, opening balance sheet preparation, and measurement period adjustments Proven involvement with full-cycle month-end close, from journal entry preparation and account reconciliation through consolidated financial statement issuance Preferred: Experience in a healthcare organization Prior industry experience following public accounting, including at least one year in a supervisory or management capacity Advanced proficiency with strong Excel modeling skills AI fluency Familiarity with intercompany accounting, cost allocations, and site-level profit and loss reporting Banyan Treatment Centers is an equal opportunity employer. #J-18808-Ljbffr
