Job Title Assistant Golf Course Superintendent Department Golf Reports To Golf Course Superintendent FLSA Status Exempt Effective Date October 2025 White Oak Mission Saving endangered wildlife and habitats through sustainable populations, expanding education initiatives, and responsible land stewardship. Job Summary The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent plays a vital leadership role in managing the day‑to‑day agronomic operations of the White Oak golf course. This position supports the Golf Course Superintendent in ensuring playability, aesthetics, and environmental responsibility while championing conservation and sustainable land‑management practices. Essential Duties Supervise crew: set work procedures and schedules, conduct coaching, training, and performance evaluations. Assist in planning and executing turf maintenance programs including mowing, irrigation, fertilization, aeration, and top‑dressing. Monitor turf health, soil moisture, and climate conditions to maintain playability and minimize resource use. Lead integrated pest and disease management programs using environmentally sound best practices. Assist with programming, repair, and maintenance of irrigation systems and develop water‑conservation strategies. Ensure appearance standards, safe work practices, and accountability across the team. Enhance native habitat areas and promote ecological balance. Participate in course renovation projects and long‑term turf improvement planning with a focus on environmental impact and guest experience. Monitor mixing and calibration of sprayers and spreaders for accurate application. Assist with planning and coordination of golf events and tournaments and give presentations when required. Take overall responsibility for course maintenance operations in the absence of the Superintendent. Perform additional duties assigned by the Director‑Course Operation and/or Golf Course Superintendent. Education and Work Experience Requirements Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Environmental Science, or related field preferred. Turfgrass Management Certificate and golf‑course related experience required. Minimum eight years of experience in a golf‑course management position. Active or pursuing BMP certification. GCSAA Membership required. Florida Pesticide Applicator License (must obtain within 90 days of hire). FTGA and FGCSA membership preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong knowledge of warm‑season turf, irrigation systems, and native‑area management. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and maintenance platforms such as Task Tracker or TrakStar. Strong leadership, communication, and time‑management skills. Commitment to conservation‑focused turf practices. Mechanical aptitude for equipment calibration, troubleshooting, and routine diagnostics. Clear understanding of golf‑course operations and public‑facilities expectations. Physical Requirements, Hazards, and Special Working Conditions Must possess valid Florida or Georgia driver’s license. Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. and perform demanding tasks in varying weather. Must stand, bend, and twist frequently and work early mornings, weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings or emergencies. Must work outdoors in an outdoor, fast‑paced environment with variable weather.
