Sentara Leigh Outpatient Pharmacy is hiring a Pharmacist In Charge

Schedule

• Full-Time (40 hours/week)

• Day Shift

Job Description

• Ensures the appropriateness of all provider medication orders in maintaining a high level of patient care and safety
• Participates in the training of new employees and the development of training materials
• Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements
• Precepts pharmacy students and/or pharmacy residents as assigned in operational oversight of area of practice
• Leads the implementation of various system initiatives at both local and system levels
• Serves as a system expert and site lead in specialized pharmacy operations in area of practice (e.g., compounding, drug diversion, quality, and or safety)
• Resource for the staff on operational issues related to pharmacy practice
• Additional duties may be assigned as needed
• May be responsible for pharmacist-in-charge (PIC) duties when applicable
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire
• Required license must be valid in the state of practice

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy

• Active Virginia Pharmacist License

• Minimum of three years of pharmacist experience

Preferred

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)

• Ambulatory or Outpatient Pharmacy experience

• Previous leadership or supervisory experience

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $159,203.20 - $225,992.00 annually. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs. Note: If an annual salary is posted, it is based on a full-time colleague working 2,080 hours annually.

Sentara Leigh Hospital , located in Norfolk, VA, is a 274-bed acute care facility that opened in 1903 and relocated to its present site in 1977. Our hospital completed a renovation in 2016, including two new patient towers, a beautiful atrium, and a multi-story parking garage. Sentara Leigh Hospital includes a dedicated Orthopedic Hospital providing patients access to a full continuum of orthopedic care, from the preoperative phase and surgery to rehabilitation and home care services. Along with being a recognized accredited Primary Stroke Center, and Magnet hospital for nursing excellence, we also specialize in orthopedic and spine care, heart, vascular, maternity care, and general surgery. We are also home to the region’s only 24-hour hyperbaric oxygen program that helps speed up the healing of carbon monoxide poisoning, wounds that won’t heal, infections in which tissues are starved for oxygen, airborne chemical exposures, and scuba diving accidents.
