Hours: 12-hour shifts 6pm-6am. Must be available evenings, holidays, and weekends as required.

Summary of Functions:
The Organ Case Manager I (OCM I) plays a crucial role in the allocation and recovery of organs for transplant and research purposes. This position is responsible for coordinating organ recovery arrangements, facilitating organ allocation, and ensuring compliance with OneLegacy policies and relevant regulatory standards, including those set by UNOS, AOPO, and applicable federal, state, and local laws. The OCM I ensures all duties are performed with a high level of professionalism, accuracy, and adherence to ethical standards. The incumbent is expected to embody and uphold the core values of OneLegacy.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Organ Allocation and Recovery Coordination
1. System Proficiency: a. Maintain expert-level proficiency in the use of all systems involved in electronic organ allocation, including Digital Donor and UNET. b. Ensure the ability to perform accurate organ allocations even during system outages, with a thorough understanding of backup procedures.
2. Organ Allocation Optimization: a. Maximize organ allocation effectiveness by ensuring timely offers, conducting organ-specific testing, managing logistics for courier services, activating recovery surgeons, and providing clear communication with transplant centers.
3. Recovery coordination: a. Coordinate and arrange transportation for recovery surgeons when necessary. b. Dispatch and direct appropriate recovery personnel to organ recovery sites. c. Provide detailed instructions to procurement staff and ensure clarity in the recovery process. d. Verify and document all recovery activities, including time of death, anatomical details, and diagnostic testing results. e. Oversee courier operations and confirm safe and timely delivery of recovered organs.
4. Local and National Organ Placement: a. Coordinate organ allocation for local, regional, and national transplant centers, including Heart, Lungs, Liver, Kidneys, Pancreas, Small bowel, and other organs for transplant or research.
5. Organ Biopsy Coordination: a. Facilitate organ biopsy processes and ensure timely reporting of biopsy results to the relevant Organ/Tissue/Research Centers.
6. Accurate Documentation: a. Maintain accurate and real-time documentation in systems like Digital Donor, UNET, and other assigned platforms for all cases coordinated.
7. Ongoing Communication: a. Maintain continuous communication with Procurement Staff, Family Care Center, Family Services, and Leadership/Administrator on Call (AOC). b. Notify the Manager/AOC of any unusual circumstances during organ placement and recovery processes.
8. Adverse Lab Value Reporting: a. Timely report adverse lab values, such as positive cultures, to the appropriate Organ/Tissue/Research Centers.
9. Post-Recovery Follow-up: a. Conduct post-recovery follow-up, including feedback on UNET, potential transplant recipients (PTR), and organ disposition.
10. Organ Disposition: a. Ensure that unsuitable organs are discarded appropriately in accordance with established guidelines.
11. Shift Handover and Communication: a. Conduct thorough and accurate shift exchanges with oncoming staff to ensure smooth continuity in organ allocation and recovery.
12. Staff Training: a. Assist in the training / precepting of new staff and provide ongoing education under the guidance of management.
General Expectations:
1. Timely reporting to all scheduled shifts.
2. Maintains proper phone etiquette and professional behavior at all times when on duty.
3. Supports the organization's Standards of Professional Conduct as outlined in the OneLegacy Employee Handbook, and the mission, vision and values.
4. Attends required staff meetings, training programs and/or in-services as deemed necessary by the immediate Manager, Director or CEO.
5. Stays professionally current through attending continuing education, in-service, and professional meetings and conducting professional reading and obtains and maintains valid licenses and certificates as needed.
6. Subject to ongoing performance feedback by management, including but not limited to an annual performance appraisal. Ongoing adjustments to performance are required in order to meet targeted goals and expectations. Failure to meet performance expectations may/will result in disciplinary action.
7. Completes all other duties as assigned by the department management.
8. As necessary, performs laboratory maintenance in accordance with policy and procedures.
9. Maintains annual vaccinations and immunizations as required.
Required Availability for Recovery and Administrative Work:
1. OneLegacy is a 24/7/365 operation.
2. The workday is defined as 6am-6am.
3. Required to work nights and/or weekends as scheduled by management.
4. Required to work holidays as scheduled by management.
5. Required to submit to management PTO requests by the 15th of the month for the following months schedule.

Physical Environment/Working Conditions:
Location: Corporate Office. Travel: Required to travel by personal auto or air to meeting sites and other locations. Work Hours: Assigned days and/or shift can be changed according to staffing needs. Must be available evenings, holidays, and weekends as required.
Job Qualifications and Requirements:
Education: Bachelor's degree (BS) from an accredited four-year college/university or Associate's degree from a 2-year program (AS) with at least 2 years of medical/clinical experience or medical specialty certification (e.g., EMT) with at least 2 years of medical/clinical experience.
Experience: 2 years of customer-facing experience at an Organ Procurement or Transplant Center preferred.
Requirements: Required to have a current California state driver's license, auto insurance based on state minimal insurance coverage standards and reliable automotive transportation throughout employment at OneLegacy. Eligible to work in the U.S. Equipment: Reliable automotive transportation required. Required to have reliable cell phone when available to work.
Salary Range: $72,345 - $87,537.45
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, OneLegacy considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
