Description: Schedule may require floating to units with similar acuity. Patient ratios are 3-4 dyads (6-8 patients) on nights and weekends. This is a 40-bed inpatient postpartum unit that provides family-centered care to women and infants. Special procedures will include telemetry interpretation, and RNs are expected to pass an EKG exam prior to start. The unit provides care for postpartum patients, including those who had vaginal deliveries or cesarean sections. Postpartum readmissions may include wound infection and preeclampsia. Healthy newborn assessments will be conducted, including care for infants with neonatal abstinence syndrome. Interdisciplinary support is available from IV teams, physical therapy, and social services. RNs will be responsible for administering medications, conducting assessments, and providing discharge teaching to parents. Management of various conditions such as postpartum hemorrhage and pregnancy-induced hypertension is required. The ability to teach circumcision care and provide breast feeding instructions is a key component of the role. Candidates must comply with credentialing processes in a timely manner.
