Supervisor I Position at Patton State Hospital

Patton State Hospital, Human Resources Department is accepting applications for at least one (1) permanent, full-time appointment to the Supervisor I classification in the External Affairs Department. This position is under the direction of the Executive Director. A training and development opportunity may also be considered.

The incumbent is responsible for directing the hospital's External Affairs department, which coordinates the hospital's administrative directive update and publication, coordinates volunteer services and public tours, manages public records act and media requests, works with patient government and patients' rights advocates, organizes hospital-wide activities and recognition programs, communicates department of state hospital Sacramento headquarters on major events, maintains and updates hospital intranet contents, functions in the hospital's emergency operations structure, processes, maintains, and disseminates visitor passes and photograph authorizations, administers Everbridge emergency communications, and leads and participates in various hospital committees and activity groups.

The position provides consultation to the executives on a variety of sensitive subjects and prepares outgoing public messages for distribution. Excellent verbal and written communication are a must. The incumbent is required to maintain a professional presence in front of the public even in the most difficult situations, providing clear and concise messages and addressing the public in a respectful and courteous manner. The incumbent must possess a high degree of independence, tact, organization, attention to detail, and adaptability. The incumbent is expected to be able to assess situations and make a sound decision while maintaining composure and emotional stability under stress. Travel and working outside the usual business hours may be required occasionally.
