Actuarial Director

Director & Actuary – Life Pricing Location: Newport Beach, CA or Omaha, NE (hybrid schedule: four days in the office, remote otherwise) This role leads product development initiatives for Pacific Life’s life insurance business, overseeing a team of 3 actuarial professionals and collaborating with Pricing, Product Development, Risk Management, Modeling, and Sales. Responsibilities Lead and develop the pricing team; oversee product pricing activities and perform pricing analysis. Lead product pricing, support product implementation, and execute project plans with on‑time, high‑quality deliveries. Stay current with regulatory changes and new pricing or risk management developments that affect product lines. Ensure product development follows pricing guidelines, meets regulatory and governance standards, and secures required approvals. Collaborate with stakeholders (marketing/sales, investment management, valuation, risk management, legal, operations) to balance competitiveness, profitability, and risk for priced products. Grow team talent through development advice and support. Qualifications FSA with 6+ years of related actuarial pricing and product development experience. Direct experience developing life insurance products. Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Finance, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field. Strong management, team‑building, and communication skills. Excellent project management and business‑partnering abilities. Proven leadership with a strong sense of urgency. Capability to understand the big picture and mobilize initiatives in ambiguous situations. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. What Makes You Stand Out FSA with 10+ years actuarial experience. Prior experience developing life insurance products. Thought leader focused on continuous improvement, sustainability, and scalability. Ability to multitask with shifting priorities under tight deadlines. Self‑starter with strong analytical skills and attention to detail. VBA coding experience and proficiency in related programming languages. Experience with actuarial modeling and statistical analysis programs (Prophet, R). Base Pay Range $198,810.00 – $242,990.00 (actual compensation dependent on experience, qualifications, and location). Additional incentive pay possible.
