STATEMENT OF JOB: This Position provides therapeutic services to clients enrolled or eligible to be enrolled with Apache Behavioral Health Services. The Clinician provides general mental health counseling and substance abuse services to clients with various needs, including SMI, suicidal ideation, trauma, and domestic violence. The Clinician also assists with referral services to the appropriate entities and acts in collaboration with other Child and Family Team and Adult Recovery Team members, including other clinicians, case managers, families, and other stakeholders. This position will also act as an advocate for the client with other service providers when appropriate to do so.

Services - Whether facing a crisis or simply looking to talk, we can help. Services are available at low or no cost to members of the White Mountain Apache Tribe and those living on the Fort Apache Reservation. Services are provided in a timely, respectful, compassionate manner. With multiple locations on the Fort Apache Reservation, our team of credentialed clinical staff work with individuals, groups, and families. We offer resources, treatment, and healing for the whole person: mental, emotional, and social.

ASSESSMENT: Clients may call or walk in to any ABHS clinic to get connected to the best services by giving information about their history and current life, giving us a snapshot of the challenges, they are facing.

THRIVE: BIRTH TO FIVE (0-5 YEARS) Learning to live healthy daily lives begins at any age. We work with parents of children under age five to help the family improve social, emotional, and mental health.

CHILD, ADOLESCENT & FAMILY SERVICES (6-18) Every family member can benefit from a healthy family. We work with children, adolescents, and guardian(s) to improve daily living. Individual counseling, skills training, and behavioral health coaching services are provided in

SCHOOL ENRICHMENT: SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING & MATH (6-18) This school-based group program encourages students to develop social and emotional learning though science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) activities.

ADULT SERVICES (18+) Improve daily life in lasting, meaningful ways. Individual services include counseling, skills training, and case management. Group services provide treatment for domestic issues related to violence, anger management, substance abuse, recovery, trauma, and grief/loss. Life skills and business/vocational skills development also provided.

PARENT EMPOWERMENT (ALL AGES) Healthy families start with healthy parents. Services include relationship skills development, support groups, counseling, and programs to help with communication. Now offering Motherhood is Sacred® and Fatherhood is Sacred® programs.

SUICIDE PREVENTION: NOWHI' IDA' BAGOYE' – LIFE IS PRECIOUS (ALL AGES) Get immediate, confidential help. Individual services include risk assessment, safety planning, and skills coaching. Group services cover grief/loss, trauma, relationship issues, depression/anxiety, stress management, and substance abuse recovery.

OUT OF HOME (ALL AGES) We also help connect individuals with off-reservation services. Clinical services include assessment, treatment planning, case management, and discharge planning.

HOLISTIC SUPPORT SERVICES (ALL AGES) All clinical services can include Native American traditional and religious customs support contracted by community resources.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Manages a caseload of enrolled clients who would benefit from counseling services.
2. Documents contact with clients to assess needs, maintain required paperwork, and engage family members.
3. Complete comprehensive assessments and assessment updates in accordance with Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) and ABHS Standards. Complete and update client treatment plans.
4. Abide by all applicable policies, procedures, and program standards of ABHS, White Mountain Apache Tribe, Indian Health Services, Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) and other pertinent regulatory authorities.
5. Complete timely assessment and facilitation in accordance with the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) guidelines for mental health.
6. Ability to demonstrate a high degree of flexibility and competence in adjusting to clientele with varying degrees of traumatic experiences and complex psychological presentations.
7. Ability to accurately perform assessments and diagnoses with people presenting with high comorbidity of substance abuse and trauma-related manifestations under clinical supervision.
8. Ability to address a variety of diverse spiritual, emotional, and social needs in multiple environments of an often-high-risk population, using a trauma-informed care approach while maintaining a high degree of professionalism and cultural awareness.
9. 10. Engages clients and their families in counseling and assessment services.
11. Facilitates family, individual, and group counseling, skill training, and education programs.

14. Collaborates with court/probation, tribal/community agencies, families, and other natural support systems to ensure client's needs are met.

16. Develops a strong working relationship with school faculty and staff.
17. Provides services at the clinic, in the community, at schools, children's shelters, adult shelters, and in client's homes to ensure client obtains all benefits and services necessary to be successful in completing all treatment plan initiatives.

20. Participates in interdepartmental clinical team meetings to assist and encourage consistent and timely provision of services.
21. Participates in weekly clinical staffing with other members of the clinical team to review client progress and service requirements.
22. Ability to facilitate referral process to assure continuity of care across programs at ABHS.
23. Ability to provide client walk-in services in the office as related to the enrollment and assessment of clients.
24. Ability to complete timely and thorough assessments and treatment plans based on clients' presenting needs within 72 hours of initial client contact.
25. Assist in the implementation of in-service training for ABHS staff.
26. Ability to maintain client records in accordance with HIPAA, AHCCCS, ABHS, Federal, State, Tribal, and local requirements.
27. Maintain ethical policies and guidelines as outlined in accepted State ethics laws, rules, policies, and principles and as outlined in discipline-specific code of ethics.
28. Provide a positive role model to clients and staff through leadership, self-discipline, and genuine care for the treatment and recovery of clients - All clients and staff members must be treated with dignity and respect.
29. Ability to provide twenty-four hour on-call rotation including irregular hours, weekend, and holiday duty during on-call shift, as needed, and assigned by clinical supervisor.
30. Participation in all required ABHS training.
31. Reports/attends work in timely manner.
32. Must be reliable and communicate directly with supervisor in all matters of attendance.
33. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or clinical director.
