Position Overview

Empath Health is seeking an experienced Credentialing Specialist to manage and support the credentialing, re-credentialing, privileging, and payer enrollment processes for medical providers across the organization’s continuum of care.

The Credentialing Specialist will be responsible for maintaining accurate provider records, monitoring licenses and certifications, coordinating payer enrollment, and ensuring providers meet applicable credentialing and compliance requirements. This position will also oversee credentialing requirements for contracted vendors serving patients and participants.

This is a fully remote, 13-week contract opportunity with potential for FTE conversion .

Key Responsibilities

• Manage credentialing, re-credentialing, appointment, and privileging activities for medical providers.
• Coordinate provider enrollment and participation with Medicare, Medicaid, health plans, hospitals, and other healthcare organizations.
• Maintain accurate and current provider credentialing files, databases, and documentation.
• Monitor license, certification, and credential expiration dates and coordinate timely renewals.
• Support payer enrollment activities for providers and assigned Empath Health organizations.
• Oversee credentialing requirements for contracted vendors serving patients and participants.
• Research, analyze, and verify credentialing information for accuracy and compliance.
• Communicate professionally with providers, leadership, internal staff, vendors, and external organizations.
• Ensure credentialing activities are completed accurately and within established deadlines.
• Participate in performance improvement and quality initiatives.
• Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment when handling sensitive information.

Required Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with home health and/or hospice credentialing is required.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel , including creating and managing worksheets.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Experience with MedTrainer .
• Experience working with Medicare and Medicaid .
• Strong attention to detail and demonstrated accuracy and dependability.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong research, analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with providers, management, staff, vendors, and external contacts.
• Demonstrated accountability, professionalism, and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a remote team.

Important Credentialing Experience Requirement

Home health and/or hospice credentialing experience is required.

Candidates whose experience is limited to hospital credentialing will not meet the requirements for this position . The credentialing processes and requirements within home health and hospice are significantly different from traditional hospital credentialing.

Preferred Qualifications

• Three or more years of relevant credentialing experience.
• Experience supporting credentialing within home health, hospice, or other community-based healthcare settings.
• Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist ( CPCS ).

Education

Required:

• Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or
• Six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or
• Equivalent combination of education and
