Make an impact by supporting students through specialized evaluation services as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired. Located near Joliet, IL, this contract opportunity focuses on providing expert assessments to help shape individualized learning strategies. The assignment is for evaluation only, offering a focused and rewarding experience for educators passionate about accessibility and advocacy.
In this role, you will collaborate with school teams to help ensure students receive the support they need to thrive. Your expertise will make a difference in identifying strengths, challenges, and educational accommodations that create better learning environments.
Desired Qualifications:
- Active Illinois teaching license and relevant certification in Visual Impairment
- CTE (Career and Technical Education) endorsement required
- Prior school-based experience, specifically working with visually impaired students
- Ability to perform functional vision and media assessments
- Skilled at classroom observation and professional communication
- Must be available to start as soon as possible
- Comfortable participating in a 30-minute interview process
- Not accepting remote/VOCO candidates for this opportunity
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct and document comprehensive functional vision and media assessments for students
- Observe classrooms to gather insights about student needs and the effectiveness of current strategies
- Collaborate with the school's educational team to discuss findings and recommend appropriate instructional materials and modifications
- Provide clear, actionable evaluation reports within required timelines
