The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is a leading institution focused on cancer care, research, education, and prevention. The Advanced Practice Provider supports the Gynecologic Oncology team through direct patient care, clinical procedures, education, research participation, and interdisciplinary collaboration across the continuum of cancer care. The Advanced Practice Provider evaluates, treats, and manages patients throughout diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, palliative care, survivorship, and prevention. The Advanced Practice Provider works closely with physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals to provide comprehensive, evidence-based care while supporting the division's clinical, educational, and research missions. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of Advanced Practice Provider experience, with at least two years of experience in Gynecology or Oncology preferred. Candidates with experience in colposcopy, strong clinical assessment and patient management skills, and current applicable licensure and certification are highly desired. Prior experience in a cancer center, academic medical center, or specialty practice is beneficial. The typical work schedule is Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm.

Key Responsibilities Patient Assessment & Care Management
Assess patient health status through medical histories, episodic physical examinations, and psychosocial assessments.
Deliver high-quality patient care based on diagnosis, treatment plans, age group, developmental level, and identified patient needs.
Monitor laboratory, clinical, radiographic, and procedural data.
Report findings and test results to physicians and review diagnostic and therapeutic plans with the supervising physician.
Evaluate patient responses to treatment and modify care plans, as appropriate, under physician supervision when required.
Prevent, minimize, and manage symptoms, treatment-related toxicities, and other health abnormalities.
Provide psychological support to patients and families throughout the disease process.
Facilitate communication between patients, families, and the interdisciplinary care team.
Coordinate utilization of institutional resources to support patient care. Clinical Intervention & Care Coordination
Coordinate patient care activities, including writing orders and requesting consultations from healthcare team members.
Provide emergency triage and render emergency medical services pending physician arrival.
Identify and manage patient crises until physician assistance is available.
Write prescriptions as authorized and eligible.
Prepare and/or dictate patient letters, histories and physicals, progress notes, telephone notes, consultation notes, and discharge summaries.
Order diagnostic studies, including laboratory tests, X-rays, PET scans, CT scans, and MRI scans, as directed by physicians.
Coordinate consultations, diagnostic testing, procedures, and follow-up appointments with attending physicians.
Participate in Gynecology/Radiation Interdisciplinary Team Conferences.
Assist with retrieval and entry of patient data. Diagnostic & Therapeutic Procedures
Complete physician-directed training and competency validation for designated medical procedures.
Perform approved procedures under physician supervision in accordance with privileging requirements.
Remove staples, sutures, vaginal packing, drains, and catheters.
Open and provide wound care management.
Perform pelvic examinations, Pap smears, and cervical, vaginal, vulvar, and endometrial biopsies.
Administer medications via intravenous, intra-arterial, and intraperitoneal routes as needed.
Obtain blood specimens from venous and central access sites.
Remove and/or assist with removal of radium sources and intracavitary systems, as appropriate. Patient Education & Professional Development
Educate and counsel patients and families regarding treatments, symptom management, and potential side effects.
Promote healthy behaviors and self-care practices through patient education.
Refer patients to appropriate resources based on assessment findings.
Develop and maintain strong interdisciplinary relationships to support optimal patient outcomes.
Demonstrate advanced knowledge of gynecologic oncology and surgical patient care.
Assist in developing educational materials for staff.
Participate in continuing education, professional organizations, publications, and presentations.
Serve as a resource during orientation, fellowship training, and residency programs. Research & Clinical Consultation
Contribute to departmental and section research initiatives and integrate research findings into clinical practice.
Identify clinical issues appropriate for research investigation.
Initiate or collaborate on research projects and protocol development.
Assist with implementation of registered departmental research protocols.
Develop evidence-based and research-supported plans of care.
Attend departmental meetings related to Advanced Practice Provider activities.
Provide consultation to colleagues and allied health professionals within and outside UT MD Anderson.
Collaborate with medical, nursing, and interdisciplinary teams on care planning, follow-up, and patient evaluation.
Recommend therapeutic interventions for symptom management and patient support. Other duties as assigned.
