BIM Coordinator

BIM CoordinatorPosition OverviewWe are seeking a proactive BIM Coordinator to manage and improve BIM processes across mechanical and MEP projects. This role focuses on creating, organizing, and coordinating Revit and AutoCAD models; ensuring design intent is accurately translated into federated models; and supporting HVAC and piping coordination with engineering and construction teams. The BIM Coordinator will drive model quality, clash resolution, and deliverable production to meet project schedule and standards.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, implement, and maintain company BIM standards, templates, and workflows specific to mechanical, HVAC, and piping disciplines.Create, manage and update Revit and AutoCAD models and families for mechanical and MEP systems, ensuring accuracy and adherence to design intent.Perform regular clash detection and coordination using Navisworks (or equivalent), document issues, and lead resolution with engineers, designers and contractors.Coordinate model federation and integration across disciplines, manage model handovers, version control, and file exchange through the project CDE or BIM 360.Produce drawings, schedules and model-based deliverables (e.g., fabrication/installation drawings, equipment lists) for design reviews and construction coordination.Support engineers and design team with model-based design; provide technical input on HVAC, piping and mechanical systems to optimize buildability and installation.Conduct quality assurance/quality control checks on models and deliverables, ensuring compliance with project LOD requirements and BIM execution plan.Facilitate and document coordination meetings, prepare clash reports and coordination minutes, and track action items to completion.Train and mentor project staff on Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM best practices; promote continuous improvement of BIM processes.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or related discipline, or equivalent experience.3+ years of hands-on BIM experience, with demonstrated expertise coordinating mechanical/MEP projects (HVAC, piping, mechanical systems).Advanced proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD; experience with Navisworks for clash detection and model aggregation.Familiarity with model collaboration platforms (BIM 360, Common Data Environment) and version control workflows.Strong understanding of MEP systems, HVAC and piping design principles and construction methodology.Knowledge of BIM standards and protocols (e.g., ISO 19650, company BIM Execution Plans) and experience implementing templates and standards.Excellent communication, coordination and problem-solving skills; ability to work with engineers, contractors and multidisciplinary teams.Autodesk Revit certification, BIM Management certification, or a professional engineering license is a plus.BenefitsPTOHoliday Time401k matchHealth / Vision / Dental Insurance
