Travel Registered Nurse NICU Job

Overview Registered Nurse, NICU travel assignment in San Luis Obispo, California. This 8-week, travel - temporary assignment is in a short-term acute care setting with a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Start date 08/17/2026. Guaranteed hours 48 per week, with a weekly pay range of $2,025–$2,154. Shift is 3x12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM–7:00 PM). Cross-training to Pediatrics is expected, and Epic EMR experience is required. Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to neonates in the NICU, including stable and critically ill newborns.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans; administer medications and IV therapies; manage indwelling lines and drains.
• Monitor physiologic status, respond to changes, and support ventilated neonates with devices such as CPAP, O2 therapy, and ventilators.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team; document progress and coordinate with families on education and discharge planning.
• Supervise and delegate tasks to appropriate ancillary staff within scope of practice; cross-train and float to Pediatrics as needed.

Requirements

• Active RN license in the state of California
• Education: ADN or equivalent required; BSN preferred
• Minimum two years NICU nursing experience required
• Certifications: BLS, PALS, and NRP from approved vendors required
• Epic electronic medical record experience required
• Neonatal transport experience preferred; previous experience attending deliveries for neonatal resuscitation preferred
• RNC or CCRN certification preferred
• Ability to work in a Level III NICU setting and float to Pediatrics as needed
