Account Manager Location: Frederick, MD - Retail shop Key Responsibilities Develop and execute sales plans to serve existing accounts, obtain orders, and establish new accounts. Qualify and pursue sales leads. Cultivate customer relationships by developing deep knowledge of the customer's business and establishing a consultative relationship. Engage customers by linking their business priorities to the Airgas value proposition. Prepare sales proposals with pricing, credit terms, and estimated delivery dates. Keep current with industry insights, Airgas product mix, and competition; gather marketplace information on pricing, products, and delivery schedules. Partner with internal resources to achieve growth objectives and maintain clear communication with internal departments regarding customer successes and opportunities. Maintain and submit sales reports (daily call reports, weekly work plans, monthly and annual territory analyses) as required by the District Manager via SAP. Actively review and manage existing customer accounts receivable balances to minimize working capital investment and financial risk. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in science, business, or related field required; alternatively, up to 4 years of related experience may be considered. Minimum of 3 years of prior outside B2B sales experience with proven solution‑selling success and a history of managing customers within a defined sales territory. Familiarity with industrial and specialty gases, industrial gas/welding supply sales an advantage. Knowledge of customer segmentation and ability to prioritize high‑value customers. Proven success using a consultative sales approach to deliver multiple layers of value. Deep knowledge of customer business, macro‑ and micro‑economic trends, industry trends, and new business opportunities. Working knowledge of SAP an advantage. Excellent organizational, written, oral, listening, and presentation skills. Strong PC skills (Windows, Word, Excel, email) and ability to learn a PC‑based order entry system and handheld scanning device. Self‑starter, self‑motivated, sense of urgency, ability to work independently. Strong organizational, analytical, and planning skills. Ability to solve practical problems with few standardizations. Reliable transportation, current driver’s license, and minimum liability insurance as required by state. Physical Demands May be required to remain stationary or sit in a vehicle for extended periods. Might occasionally need to travel through office and/or manufacturing locations. Frequently required to actively listen and exchange information. Requires frequent use of computer, telephone, and operation of a motor vehicle. May occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Work Environment Frequent local travel (~75% of work time); minimal overnight travel. Must have reliable, appropriate transportation. Visits customer sites with varying environments. Benefits Salary range 75‑85K base plus commission. Monthly auto allowance.
