Education Division Manager

The Position

Under the general supervision of the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Education Division Manager provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the shíshálh Nation Education Division. The position is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs and services that support lifelong learning for shíshálh members from early childhood through adulthood. The position will ensure that educational services reflect the Nation's culture, language, traditions, and values while supporting community priorities, self-determination and reconciliation. You will also oversee financial management, staff leadership, policy development, community engagement, and partnerships with educational institutions, governments and funding agencies.

The Candidate

• Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Nation's Education Division, ensuring programs align with the Nation's vision, values and strategic priorities.
• Oversee the planning, delivery, and continuous improvement of Early Learning, K–12, Post-Secondary, Adult Education, Employment and Training and Language.
• Lead, mentor, and support a high-performing team by fostering collaboration, accountability and professional development.
• Develop and manage departmental budgets, funding agreements, grants and financial reporting to ensure responsible stewardship of resources.
• Build and maintain strong partnerships with schools, post-secondary institutions, government agencies, Indigenous organizations and community partners.
• Develop and implement policies, strategic plans, and initiatives that enhance educational outcomes and lifelong learning opportunities for shíshálh members.
• Monitor program performance, evaluate outcomes, and prepare reports and recommendations for senior leadership and Chief and Council.
• Champion culturally grounded education by integrating shashishalhem language, cultural teachings, and community values into programs and services.
• Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, funding agreements, organizational policies, and privacy requirements.
• Represent the Nation on regional, provincial, and national education committees, working groups, and partnership initiatives.
• Perform other tasks within the scope of the position and as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:

• Master's Degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Indigenous Education, Public Administration, or a related discipline. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
• 7–10 years of progressive education leadership experience and at least 5 years managing teams and budgets.
• Experience working with Indigenous communities.
• Experience managing government-funded programs.
• A comprehensive understanding of First Nations K-12, post-secondary and adult education and First Nations issues in BC.
• Able to plan and implement instructional programs, and the ability to relate to students of various ages and cognitive abilities.
• Experience in managing fiscal resources including development/evaluation of business plans, budgets and reporting.
• Experience in education administration with an in-depth knowledge of principles, techniques, and training methods used in education from preschool to grade 12.
• Experience with using computers and related software applications, learning technology software, and other tools (web-based data storage programs, E-learning systems, video streaming, use of social media and current technologies, etc.).
• A valid driver’s license and a clean Criminal Record Check.
