Location: Remote Locations, Alaska Schedule: 3 Weeks On / 3 Weeks Off Rotation Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary

Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing skilled maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance activities across a variety of building systems and equipment. This position requires a multi-craft technician with experience in commercial, industrial, or remote-site facilities maintenance. Maintenance Technician works independently to diagnose and resolve complex maintenance issues while ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable building and fire codes, including those specific to arctic environments.

What You'll Do

Multi-Craft Maintenance

• Troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on building systems and equipment.
• Maintain and repair plumbing systems, fixtures, and appliances.
• Perform basic electrical maintenance, including replacement and repair of switches, outlets, light fixtures, ballasts, and related components.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems and associated equipment.
• Respond to maintenance service requests and emergency repair situations.

Building and Facility Maintenance

• Assist with carpentry, mechanical repairs, and general building upkeep.
• Maintain and repair specialized commercial facility assets, including overhead doors and related equipment.
• Conduct routine facility inspections to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.
• Support facility improvement projects and equipment installations.

System Monitoring and Troubleshooting

• Isolate, diagnose, and resolve complex maintenance issues affecting facility operations.
• Utilize maintenance management and computerized purchasing systems to order parts, materials, and supplies.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, equipment repairs, and preventive maintenance activities.
• Recommend corrective actions and long-term solutions to recurring maintenance issues.

Safety and Compliance

• Follow all safe work practices and company safety procedures
• Adhere to confined space, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and working-at-heights requirements
• Identify hazards and implement appropriate mitigation measures before work begins
• Ensure work complies with applicable codes, manufacturer specifications, and company policies
• Maintain awareness of guest and employee safety while performing maintenance activities

Teamwork

• Demonstrate strong teamwork by supporting colleagues and contributing to shared goals
• Communicate timelines, priorities, and updates clearly and effectively
• Delivering timely, high-quality work to support overall team performance and success

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of one (1) to two (2) years of experience in skilled building trades, commercial maintenance, industrial maintenance, or a related field.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing multiple building systems preferred.

Ability to pass:

• Pre-employment non-DOT drug screening
• Fit-for-duty medical capacity examination
• Criminal background check

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated proficiency or certification in at least two (2) of the following disciplines:
• General maintenance
• HVAC systems
• Mechanical systems
• Electrical systems and controls
• Pipefitting/plumbing
• Welding
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Working knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and maintenance management systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, and schematics.
• Other duties as assigned by manager.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in Arctic weather conditions
• Ability to safely lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds without assistance
• Ability to work safely in confined spaces, at heights, and under lockout/tagout procedures
• Ability to perform physically demanding maintenance work throughout a 12-hour shift
