Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)

Title: Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Location: Boise, ID Start Date: ASAP Job Summary: We are seeking a Certified Welding Inspector to support construction activities at a large-scale semiconductor manufacturing facility. This role will focus on inspection and quality oversight of stainless-steel piping systems with strict cleanliness and installation requirements, including oxygen service applications. The CWI will be responsible for verifying weld integrity, supporting pressure testing, and performing mechanical walkdowns to ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and quality standards. Key Responsibilities: Perform visual weld inspections on stainless steel piping systems in accordance with applicable codes and project specifications Verify weld quality, fit up, and installation practices meet required standards for high purity and oxygen clean systems Support and witness pressure testing activities, including hydrostatic and pneumatic tests Conduct mechanical walkdowns to confirm system completeness, proper installation, and readiness for turnover Ensure oxygen cleanliness standards are maintained throughout fabrication and installation processes Review welding procedures (WPS), procedure qualification records (PQR), and welder qualifications (WPQ) Identify and document nonconformances and support corrective actions with contractors Interface with construction, QA QC, and commissioning teams to ensure quality alignment through project lifecycle Maintain accurate inspection records, reports, and turnover documentation Requirements: Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification Experience inspecting stainless steel piping systems, preferably in high purity or industrial process environments Familiarity with oxygen cleanliness requirements and contamination control practices Experience with pressure testing, system turnover, and mechanical completion processes Strong understanding of applicable codes such as ASME Section IX and B31.3 Ability to read and interpret isometrics, P and IDs, and welding documentation Strong field presence with the ability to work in an active construction environment Preferred Qualifications: Experience on semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or other high purity facilities Prior work on large scale industrial or mission critical construction projects Additional certifications such as NDE Level II (VT, PT) FootBridge is an equal opportunity employer committed to an inclusive environment where everyone is valued and respected.
