About the Position

Job Title: RN Psych Profession: RN Psych Specialty: RN Psych Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Rotating shifts (Days, Evenings, Nights) Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of inpatient adult psychiatric experience License: Active RN License Certifications: AHA BLS Must-Have: Proficient in using automatic medication dispensing systems. Proficient in psychotropic medications and their side effects. Able to assume the role of charge nurse. Competent in completing admissions and discharges. Experienced in using IV pumps and caring for diabetic patients. Description: This is an adult psychiatric nursing position. The unit consists of 30 beds for adults aged 18 to 65. The focus is on treating a variety of mental health issues including anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and borderline personality disorder. The unit also accommodates dual diagnosis patients who may require detoxification while receiving mental health treatment. Some medically acute patients may also be treated, including those needing IVs, CPAPs, wound care, and diabetic care. The clinician to patient ratio is 1 RN to 7 or 8 patients. The electronic medical record system used for charting is EPIC. Floating to other units may be required. Rotating shifts are necessary for day positions, which include hours from 7 AM to 7 PM, 11 AM to 11 PM, and 7 PM to 7 AM. Rotation is not required for night positions.
