Position Purpose Vaughn College seeks applicants for a full‑time, non‑tenure track faculty position in the Department of Aviation. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in the teaching and assessment of the curriculum, primarily teaching a minimum of 12 credit hours in aviation and Air Traffic Control related courses including FAR Part 141 flight ground courses. This student‑centric position shall deliver service excellence, supporting the needs of the college and industry community. Job Responsibilities Provide instruction to students for the B.S. and A.A.S. degrees in Aircraft Operations – Pilots License with a concentration in Flight Education; teach a course load of minimum 12 credit hours per semester (Fall and Spring). Assist in maintaining all FAA‑related records for the Part 141 flight training courses. Maintain a thorough understanding of technology, learning management systems, and computer applications. Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or deemed appropriate to the accomplishments of the responsibilities and functions of the Aviation and Air Traffic department. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Possess current FAA licenses: FAA Private Pilot License, Instrument Rating, Commercial Pilot License, Flight Instructor (Airplane, Instrument, Airplane & Multiengine). Ground Instructor Advanced & Instrument; ATP license Multiengine and Air Traffic Control Tower Operator Certification in either a FAA, Military, or Contract Tower. Proficiency in MS Office Suite and an understanding of organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information professionally, demonstrating high levels of initiative, resourcefulness, and personal accountability. Maintain privacy and confidentiality, protect institutional assets, act ethically and with integrity, and adhere to Vaughn’s Code of Conduct and policies. Effective analytical and decision‑making skills; excellent oral and written communication, organization, and time‑management abilities. Interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse constituents. Attention to detail, adaptability to a changing environment, and dependability. Education and Experience Requirements Bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) with 10 years of related experience and appropriate FAA current licenses. Current civilian or military pilot education experience. Flexibility to work outside normal business hours, including nights and weekends. Thorough understanding of technology, learning management systems, and computer applications. Work Environment and Physical Functions This position is located in a classroom/office environment. Employees must be able to sit, stand, and navigate within the office area. Moderate physical activity is required, including handling objects up to 20 pounds and standing or walking for more than four hours per day. Compensation The entry‑level compensation for this position is expected to range from $77,000 to $81,000 per year. Employment Type and Status Full‑Time; Exempt.
