Manager, Inclusive Workplace Programs

Washington, District of Columbia, United States Overview NPR is a mission-driven multimedia organization that produces award-winning news, information, and music programming in partnership with hundreds of independent public radio stations. The Manager of Inclusive Workplace Programs is a critical execution role responsible for translating NPR’s DEI strategy into practical, high‑impact workplace initiatives that support staff, supervisors, and leaders. Responsibilities Program Implementation & Execution: Design, launch, and manage measurable, organization‑wide DEI programs. Learning Facilitation: Partner with Learning & Development to strengthen inclusion, equity, accessibility, and cultural competency in training. Resource & Toolkit Development: Create practical guides, checklists, and toolkits for managers to embed inclusive leadership. ERG Operational Advisory: Serve as central contact for ERG leaders, guiding charter development, strategic goal‑setting, and budget reconciliation. Manager and Team Enablement: Advise departmental leadership on localized belonging efforts and provide tactical remedies. Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work with People Partners, Talent Acquisition, and Internal Communications to integrate inclusive practices into recruitment, retention, and messaging. Impact Tracking & Metrics: Establish and monitor KPIs for DEI programs and ERGs using surveys, participation rates, and feedback. Reporting & Insights: Compile progress reports for leadership and stakeholders, highlighting successes and recommending adjustments. Minimum Qualifications Proven DEI Implementation Experience: 5+ years managing or executing workplace DEI initiatives. ERG Operational Knowledge: History of advising or leading Employee Resource Groups or similar communities. Effective Program Facilitation: Ability to facilitate interactive workshops, moderate sensitive dialogue, and lead presentations. Collaborative Stakeholder Management: Experience working cross‑functionally with diverse groups to drive outcomes. Actionable Project Planning: Track record of translating strategic objectives into structured, step‑by‑step plans with milestones. Practical Problem Solving: Ability to identify structural barriers and recommend solutions. Preferred Qualifications Inclusion Certifications: Formal DEI certification or training. Media or Public Service Experience: Experience in a media, creative, or mission‑driven organization. Strategic Translation: Ability to simplify complex goals into actionable steps. Inclusive Coaching: Skill in guiding managers on psychological safety. Empathy & Candor: Strong interpersonal skills and accountability. Data Literacy: Comfort with qualitative and quantitative program evaluation. Organizational Navigation: Capability to manage budget tracking and governance in structured systems. Education Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Development, Social Sciences, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. Work Location & Requirements NPR Hybrid Permitted: The role is hybrid. Employee must be in the Washington, D.C. location at least 10 days a year and reside in the D.C. Metropolitan Area. Job Type Full-time, exempt position. Compensation Salary Range: $142,500 – $158,500 USD plus benefits.
