HR Onboarding Coordinator (Contract)

Location: Cedar Rapids, IA

Job Type: Contract / Temporary

Schedule: Full-Time, Monday–Friday

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented HR Onboarding Coordinator to support a busy Human Resources team in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This contract opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, coordinating multiple priorities, and creating a positive onboarding experience for new employees.

The HR Onboarding Coordinator will be responsible for managing onboarding activities, ensuring compliance with employment documentation requirements, coordinating orientation schedules, and serving as a key point of contact for new hires throughout the onboarding process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and facilitate the onboarding process for new employees.
  • Prepare, distribute, and track new hire paperwork and onboarding documentation.
  • Ensure completion and compliance of I-9s, tax forms, and employment-related documents.
  • Schedule orientations, training sessions, background checks, and pre-employment requirements.
  • Maintain and update employee records within HR systems and databases.
  • Partner with hiring managers, recruiters, payroll, and IT teams to ensure a seamless onboarding experience.
  • Monitor onboarding timelines and follow up on outstanding documentation.
  • Assist with employee communications regarding benefits enrollment, company policies, and onboarding expectations.
  • Provide administrative support for HR initiatives and special projects as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee information and sensitive HR records.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience in Human Resources, onboarding, recruiting coordination, administrative support, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Experience working with HRIS systems and electronic onboarding platforms preferred.
  • Knowledge of employment documentation and HR compliance processes is a plus.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

  • Experience coordinating high-volume onboarding activities.
  • Familiarity with employee record management and HR compliance requirements.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong customer service mindset and ability to create a welcoming experience for new employees.
