Prep Cook

The Prep Cook supports the kitchen team by preparing ingredients, maintaining cleanliness, and assisting with meal production. This role ensures food is prepared safely and efficiently while reflecting the mission and values of Thousand Pines through teamwork and service.

Essential Functions

• Follow all applicable procedures in directing the crew during meal preparation and clean-up.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness to meet or exceed all health and safety regulations.
• Assist with the opening and/or closing procedures of the kitchen and dining areas.
• Collaborate with kitchen team members to anticipate and meet guest needs.
• Model a strong work ethic and positive attitude for co-workers.
• Ensure smooth transitions between shifts by preparing necessary items and communicating effectively.

Additional Responsibilities

1. In the absence of the Shift Leader, the Prep Cook may serve as a point of contact for guests and is expected to demonstrate professionalism and hospitality at all times.
2. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates Christian character, integrity, and adaptability.
• One year of experience in institutional or commercial cooking preferred.
• Agreement with Thousand Pines' doctrinal statement, values, and employee handbook.
• Friendly and professional demeanor, even under stress.
• Possession of a current Food Handler Certificate or willingness to obtain one.
• Minimum age requirement: 18 years.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must have physical ability to perform all essential job functions.
• Must have reliable transportation, including in inclement weather.
