As a Non-Registered EEG Technician , you will perform routine electroencephalographic examinationsin a welcoming and encouraging workplace environment.In this position, you have an excellent opportunity to gainextensivehands-on experience in EEG from expert physicians and caregivers. A caregiver in this position worksfull-time40 hoursweek.Sunday - Saturday, Possible Weekends. Schedule can changebased on the week. 7am-11pm we need this candidate to beflexible in the role and could be as easy as Monday to Friday, butwill need the flexibility to work weekends, as needed. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Perform electroencephalographic examinations. Select predetermined electrode combinations (montages) to obtain recordings, recognizeartifactsand takeappropriate stepstoeliminatethem. Monitor onthe same apparatus, other variables such as electromyograms, electrocardiograms, electro-oculograms, respiration, etc. Observepatientwith video recording equipment, ensure EEG and tape are lined up exactly, and check focus,lightingand microphone. Set-up patient for continuous monitoring at the bedside with video, ifindicated. Instruct nursing caregivers on pushing eventbuttonand care of videos. Abstract relevant information from the patients' clinicalrecordand obtainadditionalinformation. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Associate's DegreeinElectroneurodiagnosticsor a related patient care field OR two years of direct patient care experience Completion of an EEG Technician Trainee Program Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)orthe American Red Cross American Board of Registration for Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET) Credentialing for a Registered EEG Technologist (R. EEG T.) within two years of hire Physical Requirements: Manual dexterity in order to place electrodes precisely and to operate recording equipment. Ability to push and maneuver EEG machine weighing 320 pounds and Evoked Potential machine weighing 420 pounds. Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range. Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids. Personal Protective Equipment: Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
