Vaco is hiring for a Grant Accountant opportunity in Elyria OH Direct Hire, Hybrid Schedule Salary: 60-80,000/yr Job Summary We are seeking a Grant Accountant to support the fiscal integrity and financial administration of college grant and restricted-fund accounts. This position is responsible for accounting, reconciliation, financial reporting, and compliance activities while providing guidance to departments and partners on appropriate expenditures and grant-related financial procedures. The Grant Accountant will also support the Grants Accounting Manager with journal entries, audits, reporting, and overall grant administration. Key Responsibilities Accounting & Financial Reporting Review transaction details and prepare proposed journal entry transfers for review and posting. Review Time and Effort reporting for restricted-fund employees, identify discrepancies, and recommend General Ledger corrections. Process transactions, billings, collections, and financial reports accurately and timely. Prepare financial reports for assigned federal, state, local, and private grants, contracts, and gifts. Maintain accurate and complete financial records for restricted funds. Conduct monthly reconciliations for assigned grants and contracts. Maintain audit-ready grant files and provide documentation and support for audits, reviews, and financial inquiries. Coordinate financial activities with employees responsible for administering restricted programs. Grant & Award Management Apply appropriate accounting procedures to ensure compliance with grant regulations and cash management requirements. Assist departments and campus partners with proper financial procedures for restricted-fund activities. Provide accounting and financial reporting support for federal, state, local, and private grants, contracts, and gifts. Assist with identifying and resolving accounting issues related to grant-funded activities. Collaboration Serve as a financial resource and liaison to departments, program managers, and internal and external partners supporting grant activities. Collaborate with the Grants Accounting Manager and program financial managers to ensure accurate reporting and compliance. Communicate accounting policies, procedures, and grant requirements to relevant stakeholders. Recommend process improvements that enhance efficiency, accuracy, service, and compliance. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field. 2-3 years of relevant accounting, grants, financial reporting, or related experience. Knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to interpret and apply established policies, procedures, and regulations. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with internal departments and external partners.
