Position Hours and Pay This position is for 7 hours per day, 178 days per year. 7 hours per day for 4 days for the first year and 2 days each year following until certification is completed. Pay: PSE Salary Schedule Level 7 – $27.43 per hour. Key Responsibilities Provide behavior support to students as directed by the Behavior Analyst and other appropriate personnel. Instruct students individually or in small groups to effect behavior change; promotes student understanding of materials presented. Assist with the development and implementation of behavioral IEP goals, safety plans, functional behavior assessments, and behavior intervention plans. Assist instructional personnel by participating in development and monitoring of comprehensive behavioral objectives, goals, and plans. Ensure consistency of behavioral standards by coordinating with appropriate student contacts, monitor physical and emotional changes in students, and report relevant data. Monitor students both in and out of the classroom, assess crisis situations, and assist in classroom management. Consult with behavior analyst, teacher, support staff, and administrators to obtain information and advice on prior behavior problems; prepare teaching aids and provide feedback to staff, parents, and students. Cooperate with other staff members, accept direction, and work independently. Operate instructional equipment, duplicate and distribute classroom materials, and maintain the physical appearance of instructional areas. Work with Behavior Analyst 90 minutes per week or 5 percent a month. Other Functions Perform related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position and pursuant to the contract. Reporting Relationships Reports to: Director/Assistant Director of Special Services. Receives guidance from Building Principal, Intervention Specialist, and/or assigned certificated staff. Mental Demands Classroom and school environment with frequent interruptions. Must manage a wide range of student behavior, academic abilities, and learning styles, which may include angry or distraught students. Physical Demands May be required to run, crouch, crawl, bend, or work in other positions besides sitting or standing. May lift 5–20 pounds. May be required to attend to students' personal hygiene and may be exposed to biting behavior or bodily fluids. Requires ability to work in non-routine positions for extended periods. Minimum Qualifications Associate's Degree preferred or equivalent education, training, skills, and experience necessary to carry out the assignment. Experience working in special education programs and/or at-risk students. Successful completion of a 40‑hour Behavior Technician Training resulting in certification as a Registered Behavior Technician or Certified Behavior Technician. Knowledge of physical therapy, instructional and therapy techniques, adaptive software, and educational equipment. Ability to read, write, speak, communicate effectively, work flexibly in changing assignments, organize activities, and maintain effective working relationships with staff and students. Requires fingerprinting, background check, Washington state driver’s license; valid first aid certification preferred. Current Washington certification as a Registered Behavior Technician or Certified Behavior Technician. Licenses / Special Requirements Requires fingerprinting and a background check to determine that there have been no convictions involving physical molestation, abuse, injury, or neglect of a minor. Must complete training in and adhere to district infection control plan. Valid Washington state driver’s license. Valid first aid certification preferred. Right Response training. Highly Qualified preferred.
