Respiratory Therapist Traveler

Job Summary The Respiratory Therapist RRT- iFlex (RRTi) is part of Intermountain’s internal travel agency for assignments. RRTi caregivers are expected to float if not needed at the assigned facility and provide advanced-level respiratory care to diagnose, evaluate, treat, manage, and control deficiencies or abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system under the prescription of the ordering physician. Responsibilities Perform, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic testing procedures according to protocol, including arterial gases; oversee and troubleshoot equipment. Initiate respiratory protocols and interventions based on assessment interpretations. Administer medications safely and evaluate patient response, ensuring communication with physicians and staff. Maintain awareness of patient condition, communicate updates to physicians and nurses, and make recommendations for care. Document patient care according to departmental standards and monitor supplies and equipment. Participate in quality and patient safety initiatives and contribute to departmental meetings. Promote respiratory care, act as a resource, consultant, and mentor, and engage in quality improvement and research. Float to other departments as needed and may be placed on-call during scheduled shifts. Minimum Qualifications Graduate of an NBRC-approved Respiratory Therapist program from an accredited institution. Registered with the National Board for Respiratory Care (RRT). Current license as a Registered Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers. Required certifications such as PALS, ACLS, or NRP. Proficiency with eye and hand coordination to operate equipment, read labels, and use monitors. Strong communication skills for rapid verbal interaction in emergency situations. Manual dexterity for handling delicate equipment and frequent computer use. Ability to lift and transfer patients, handle supplies up to heavy items, and navigate congested rooms. Capacity to stand in a stationary position for extended periods.
