Located just north of Chicago, we offer advanced surgical care in a collaborative, high-volume environment that includes a Level I Adult Trauma Center. Responsibilities Position Summary: As a Surgical Physician Assistant, you will work closely with our experienced surgeons to deliver comprehensive perioperative care. This role offers variety across general surgery, trauma, and specialty procedures in a supportive teaching environment. You'll play a key role in patient management from pre‑op through post‑op, helping drive efficient, high‑quality surgical services. Key Responsibilities: Assist surgeons in the operating room with a wide range of procedures, including first‑assist duties, retraction, suturing, and wound closure. Conduct preoperative evaluations, including history and physical exams, diagnostic test ordering and interpretation, and patient optimization. Provide postoperative care, including rounding, managing complications, pain control, and discharge planning. Perform bedside procedures such as central lines, chest tubes, and wound management as needed. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (surgeons, nurses, residents, and specialists) to ensure coordinated, patient‑centered care. Educate patients and families on surgical procedures, risks, recovery expectations, and follow‑up care. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, trauma response, and on‑call coverage as scheduled. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program. Current Illinois PA license (or eligibility). NCCPA certification. BLS and ACLS certification. 1‑2+ years of surgical experience (general surgery, trauma, or OR first‑assist). A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $125,000 to $140,000 on an annualized basis. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
