The instructional technician manages procedures and student behavior during transitions and while the remotely located teacher delivers instruction, works closely with teachers to coordinate administrative duties and completes paperwork, monitors and develops students’ social/emotional, behavioral, time, and task management, and self‑motivation skills, identifies and seeks help from leadership, monitors academic progress, ensures follow‑up with students, and collaborates with tutors, digital lab monitors, and other staff to monitor and address overall development. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or GED AA Degree or 60 College Credits or Passed Paraprofessional Exam Three years of experience related to student supervision and assisting instruction Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card Excellent communication skills Ability to work with people; students, staff and public Ability to work independently without close supervision Ability to accept direction and constructive criticism Excellent organizational skills Preferred Qualifications Two years of college Participation in district offered training, either directly from district staff or through university partnerships, for instructional technicians Knowledge of content area assigned Previous experience working with children, coaching and counseling roles a plus Preference given for experience working successfully with those of similar demographics to the desired school placement Essential Duties and Responsibilities Hold students accountable for high expectations of behavior and engagement that are ambitious and measurable Create physical classroom environments conducive to collaborative and individual learning Establish a culture of learning (both direct and remote), respect, enthusiasm, and rapport Manage student transitions between classes (behavior and procedures in the hallway, before and after classes, bathroom breaks, dismissal, etc.) Supervise students during less structured times (breakfast, recess, lunch, assemblies) Monitor independent work time in classroom while remotely located teacher works in small groups Identify and address individual students’ social, emotional, and behavioral learning needs and barriers Identify and address individual students’ development of organizational and time‑management skills Solicit and eagerly receive feedback from supervisor and team members to improve professional skills Maintain administrative duties on behalf of remotely located teacher (attendance, grades, parent conferences, activities, assignments, homework, paperwork) Collaborate with teacher(s) Participate in professional development opportunities at school Assist in preparation and presentation of school‑wide discipline plan at beginning of each school year and periodically as requested by staff Assist in prevention of inappropriate student behavior by visiting classrooms and maintaining close contact daily with identified students Assist with parent contacts as necessary Maintain confidentiality of information regarding students and staff Comply with all policies and procedures established by the school board and administration Perform such other duties and assume such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Superintendent/Designee Evaluation At least once annually in accordance with Governing Board Policy.
