Software Engineer 5 - Ads Member Experience

The Ads Platform Engineering teams build advertising systems that power the delivery of ads using our world‑class content delivery ecosystem. We provide a unique mix of client‑ and server‑side ad insertions, advanced content delivery, encoding recipes, and metadata to serve ads in a way that respects the member’s viewing experience and drives great outcomes for advertisers. We also guarantee brand safety and ensure members see only the most relevant ads. Our Ads Member Experience team is responsible for defining and building the ad formats that will shape the future of advertising on the Netflix streaming platform, including live events. The team standardizes these formats across delivery platforms (TV, mobile, web) and leads experimentation to optimize the experience for users and advertisers alike. Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain large‑scale infrastructure for real‑time, low‑latency, online advertising environments. Implement ad formats and delivery systems, including experimentation with ad creatives and native ads. Collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders (product, engineering, operations, design, consumer research) to deploy models at scale. Lead efforts to measure and optimize end‑user advertising experiences, ensuring the right advertisement is served at the right time to the right user. Drive definition and standardization of ad formats across platforms and lead experimentation for continual improvement. Qualifications Professional experience with ad formats, ad delivery systems, and user experimentation (A/B testing, lift studies). Knowledge of CTV‑specific ad formats is a plus. Strong engineering background in building scalable infrastructure for real‑time advertising. Strategic thinker with product sense and proven leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams and deliver results at scale. Nice to Haves Familiarity with Server‑Driven User Interface (SDUI) architectures. Experience building unique ad formats and products across multiple channels (CTV, DOOH, mobile, web). Programmatic advertising experience. Contribution to industry standards (e.g., VAST, OpenRTB) or working group efforts. Understanding of global advertising regulations and compliance. Compensation & Benefits Annual salary only; no bonuses. The salary range for this role is $388,000.00 – $558,000.00.
