Litigation Counsel - Civil & Employment Litigation

About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced Litigation Counsel to join its growing litigation practice in San Francisco, California. This opportunity is ideal for a seasoned litigator who enjoys managing sophisticated civil disputes and employment-related matters while working directly with clients from case inception through resolution.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Civil Litigation and Employment Litigation, with the ability to independently manage a diverse caseload. Experience representing healthcare providers, medical practices, dental practices, or healthcare organizations in litigation matters is highly desirable but not required.

Key Responsibilities

· Independently manage civil and employment litigation matters from inception through trial, settlement, or other resolution.

· Represent clients at hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trial proceedings.

· Develop litigation strategies through comprehensive legal research and case analysis.

· Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests and responses, settlement agreements, and other litigation-related documents.

· Conduct and defend depositions, witness interviews, and client meetings.

· Advise clients regarding litigation risks, legal strategy, and dispute resolution options.

· Negotiate settlements and participate in alternative dispute resolution proceedings.

· Maintain accurate case files, litigation calendars, and deadlines while managing multiple active matters.

· Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to deliver exceptional client service.

· Stay current on developments in California civil procedure, employment law, and litigation trends.

Qualifications

· Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

· Active membership in the California Bar in good standing.

· 5+ years of experience handling Civil Litigation and Employment Litigation matters.

· Experience representing employers in employment disputes is strongly preferred.

· Healthcare litigation experience involving medical or dental providers is a plus.

· Strong knowledge of California civil procedure, rules of evidence, and litigation practice.

· Demonstrated experience with motion practice, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and courtroom advocacy.

· Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.

· Ability to independently manage a busy litigation caseload while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.

· Proficiency with legal research platforms and litigation case management software.
