Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor and Delivery

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Labor and Delivery team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in high-risk, high-acuity environments and demonstrate expertise in providing comprehensive care during labor and delivery processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Function as the Baby Nurse during delivery, providing continuous care to the newborn until transfer to postpartum.
• Circulate in the delivery room, ensuring the highest quality of care during the labor and delivery process.
• Administer necessary treatments including Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate.
• Provide newborn care including eye treatments, Vitamin K injections, and comprehensive assessments.
• Manage high-risk deliveries and support various patient diagnoses including midwifery clients and substance recovery services.
• Float to sister facilities as needed, covering postpartum and antepartum care.
• Adhere to AWHONN guidelines and utilize EPIC HARDSTOP for electronic fetal monitoring.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Labor and Delivery, with a preference for candidates having 5 years of high-risk experience.
• Must have experience in fast-paced and high-acuity environments.
• Current supervisory references required.
• Valid BLS and NRP certifications are required; ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, and AWHONN Intermediate certifications are preferred.
• Candidates must pass clinical reviews and provide proof of current Nursys registration.

Work Schedule

Work will require availability on weekends and holidays as needed. Pre-approved time off will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Schedules are posted every six weeks to meet unit needs.

Unit Information

• High Risk/High Volume Labor and Delivery.
• Average daily census of 15 patients with 500-600 deliveries per month.
• Unit includes 4 operating rooms and 31 patient beds.

Special Procedures & Care

Candidates are expected to circulate and provide newborn care, including vital assessments and essential medications. Experience in high-risk, high-volume settings is essential for success in this role.
