Job Summary The Registration Coordinator coordinates all aspects of patient registration, insurance verification, and scheduling of patients accurately. The role involves conducting patient interviews by phone and in-person to establish patient accounts, gathering demographic, insurance, and clinical information to ensure appropriate scheduling and financial clearance. The Coordinator also educates patients regarding financial responsibilities and collects out‑of‑pocket fees. Job Duties Interview patients using open‑ended questions to obtain demographic, insurance (referral/authorization), and other required information. Engage patients throughout the registration process to create a welcoming and positive patient experience in person and via phone. Ensure referring providers' orders are complete and match the appointment scheduled. Obtain a new order prior to test/treatment if the order is incomplete or inaccurate. Scan insurance cards, scripts, patient identification, and all regulatory forms accurately. Secure signatures to ensure timely reimbursement, including consents specific to the services rendered. Determine and collect patient financial liability and create estimates, if applicable. Refer patients to financial resources for assistance with financial counseling. Review the daily schedule, identify potential scheduling conflicts affecting department flow, and resolve them in collaboration with colleagues and providers. Maintain compliance with registration accuracy. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. At least 1 year of customer service experience or 1 year in a healthcare environment (hospital or physician office). Computer and typing proficiency. Ability to interact with a diverse customer base, including those seeking emergency services or treatment due to an accident or illness. Successfully pass the required training in two attempts or less. Preferred Qualifications Associate’s Degree in healthcare or a related field. Two years of registration/insurance verification experience in a health care setting. Knowledge of medical terminology. Bi‑lingual: Spanish/English. American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification; State of Pennsylvania. Physical Demands Lift and carry up to 7 lbs. Continuous sitting >67% of the shift. Frequent keyboard use, repetitive motion, frequent fine motor activity, wrist position deviation.
