In this pivotal role, you’ll be the guardian of our data center operations, driving reliability and performance while optimizing operational efficiency across complex technical environments. Data Center Facility Manager acts as Amazon’s front line for hands‑on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting, maintaining, operating, and troubleshooting mission‑critical equipment such as stand‑by diesel generators, fuel systems, 3‑phase electrical systems, switchgear, UPS units, PDUs, wet‑cell batteries, CRAC units, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, water‑chemical systems, air handlers, pumps, motors, fire suppression systems, building automation systems, and general facilities equipment. AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. Key job responsibilities Oversee all aspects of the data center’s critical infrastructure, ensuring that all work performed within the space is done to high quality and without impact to internal or external customers. Oversee the safety, security, availability, quality, and performance of the team while driving a positive customer experience across multiple shift schedules. Manage teams of 24/7 engineering technicians and Facility Managers in all facets of their career. Engage in improvement projects, often requiring outreach to a variety of support teams, and drive them from conception to completion. Ensure staffing levels are maintained and grow with expansions. Be actively involved in ongoing construction activities. Coordinate daily with a multitude of third‑party vendors ensuring adherence to contracted SLAs. Effectively and efficiently manage the operations budget and expenditures. Basic Qualifications 3+ years of Microsoft Office products and applications experience. 5+ years of work in a managerial or supervisory role with 8–10 or more direct reports. 3+ years of experience in industrial electrical and mechanical systems. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems involved in critical data center operations, including feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS units, PDU units, chillers, pumps, air‑handling units, and CRAC units. Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, engineering technology, or equivalent, or 7+ years of experience working in a data center or other mission‑critical environment with an emphasis on building and equipment operation. Experience communicating technical details verbally and in writing. Must be able to work in an environment that involves walking, stooping, bending, and climbing to access equipment. Behavioral interviewing and hiring experience. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
