The Opportunity

NAEYC is seeking a Chief Market & Growth Officer to lead revenue growth and market expansion across an integrated Business Development, Marketing, and Communications function. Reporting directly to the CEO and serving as a core member of the Executive Team, this executive will be accountable for leading and building NAEYC's revenue engine while overseeing the brand, storytelling, and demand-generation strategy that fuels that growth.

NAEYC seeks an executive who can set and deliver against growth targets, build the relationships and systems required to close new business, and translate market needs and demands into sustainable revenue. Marketing and Communications sit within this function specifically to serve that mission — providing the brand platform and demand generation that business development depends on, not operating as a stand-alone function.

What You'll Do

Sales & Business Development

• Own NAEYC's revenue and business development strategy, setting and delivering against growth targets
• Identify, cultivate, and close new business across NAEYC's priority markets
• Build and lead the sales/business development function
• Partner with product/program teams to design customer-centered sales journeys and go-to-market motions
• Set pipeline targets and forecasts, and report revenue accountability directly to the CEO and Executive Team

Marketing & Communications

• Lead an integrated marketing and communications strategy that builds demand and converts engagement into customers and partners, all connected to advancing NAEYC's mission and strategic direction
• Elevate NAEYC's brand and storytelling as the platform that strengthens and amplifies early childhood educators, NAEYC's mission and fuels growth of impact
• Oversee content, campaigns, and channel strategy that activates and delivers on NAEYC's priorities and goals.
• Align marketing/communications metrics to product dashboards.

Leadership

• Establish shared goals, metrics, and dashboards across engagement, acquisition, retention, and revenue
• Build and lead a team across Sales/Business Development, Marketing, and Communications
• Serve as a core Executive Team member, aligning growth strategy with mission

What You Bring

• 12–15 years of progressive leadership experience spanning marketing, communications, and sales/business development, including at least 5 years in a senior executive capacity.
• A demonstrated track record of driving revenue growth and customer/member acquisition and retention.
• Expertise in building and implementing multi-channel lead generation and acquisition opportunities.
• Demonstrated expertise in partnering with product teams to build marketing and sales journeys with the customer at the center.
• Experience building, leading, and integrating high-performing teams across multiple disciplines.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen, including experience setting and achieving revenue and pipeline targets.
• Fiscal accountability and P&L or revenue-line management experience.
• A data-driven approach to decision-making, with fluency in CRM, marketing automation, and analytics platforms.
• Familiarity with and experience in the early childhood education field, non-profit and/or membership association experience preferred.
• Experience working within a multi-product, collaborative environment with different systems and with a mindset of innovation and problem solving.
• Leadership that drives measurable results by enabling others to succeed: setting clear goals and shared metrics, building trust across teams, removing barriers, developing talent, and holding the organization accountable for progress.

Location & Travel

This is a hybrid role based in the Washington, DC Metro Region, with regular on-site presence expected in the DC office. Travel requirement of 10-15%.
