The Electromechanical Assembler builds and installs mechanical and electrical components used in industrial power solutions. This role focuses on assembling equipment with hand and power tools, accurately measuring and fitting parts, and supporting the production of high-quality electrical power systems. You will work in a hands-on manufacturing environment, contributing to the assembly of switchgear and related power distribution equipment while collaborating closely with a diverse team.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical assembly tasks using hand and power tools such as torque guns and manual torque tools.

• Accurately measure materials and components using a tape measure to ensure proper fit and alignment.

• Mount heavy components including breakers, transformers, busway, and contactors onto structures and assemblies.

• Install sheet metal panels and doors, ensuring proper fit and finish according to work instructions and mechanical prints.

• Punch, align, and bolt copper and aluminum busbar and other conductive components as required.

• Follow written work instructions, mechanical drawings, and production guidelines to complete assemblies correctly and efficiently.

• Support cable bundling, zip-tying, and clean wire routing along wireways to maintain organized and safe wiring layouts once trained.

• Use crimp connectors, ferrule blocks, and terminal strips for electrical terminations after receiving appropriate training.

• Collaborate with team members, share information, and assist others to meet production schedules and quality standards.

• Demonstrate initiative by identifying issues, proposing solutions, and helping to improve assembly processes.

• Maintain a clean and safe work area by following all safety procedures and using required personal protective equipment.

• Adapt to working in both climate-controlled and non-climate-controlled areas, as well as indoor and outdoor production spaces.

• Work full shifts on your feet and handle physical tasks such as lifting, positioning, and securing components.

• Adhere to company policies regarding tools and equipment, including using only company-provided tools.

• Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers, including participating in a diverse, multilingual team.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency with hand and power tools, including torque guns and manual torque tools.

• Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately in a manufacturing or construction setting.

• 1–3 years of experience in manufacturing, construction, carpentry, or a closely related hands-on trade.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with mechanical assemblies and hardware.

• Capability to stand and work on your feet for up to 12-hour days when required.

• Ability to mount and handle heavy components such as breakers, transformers, busway, and contactors safely.

• Experience installing sheet metal panels and doors or similar mechanical fabrication and assembly tasks.

• Comfort following detailed work instructions and production processes in a fast-paced environment.

• Team-oriented mindset with problem-solving skills and a willingness to take initiative.

• Basic general labor and production skills, including safe material handling and workspace organization.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in assembly, mechanical production, or electronic assembly environments.

• Background in construction, carpentry, waste management, CNC operations, or similar industrial work.

• Ability to interpret mechanical prints or blueprints; mechanical print reading is a strong plus.

• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics is a strong plus, though not required.

• Familiarity with switchboard or low-voltage power circuit breaker switchgear is a plus.

• Experience working from work instructions and standard operating procedures in a manufacturing setting.

• Comfort with cable bundling, zip-tying, and clean wire routing along wireways once trained.

• Willingness to be trained on electrical tasks such as using crimp connectors, ferrule blocks, and terminal strips.

• Ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment, including multilingual teams.

• Openness to learning new tools, techniques, and processes related to power equipment assembly.

Work Environment

The work environment is diverse and inclusive, with team members from a variety of backgrounds and languages, including Spanish-speaking employees. Work takes place in a mix of climate-controlled and non-climate-controlled areas, as well as some outdoor spaces, so you should be comfortable working in different temperature and environmental conditions. Typical hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a standard 40-hour workweek and the possibility of overtime, including shifts that may extend up to 12 hours when production demands require it. Steel-toe footwear is required on the production floor, and the company provides an allowance for these when employees go direct. All tools are supplied by the company, and employees are asked not to bring their own tools. The setting is a hands-on manufacturing facility focused on electrical power equipment, where safety, quality, and collaboration are central to daily operations.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
