Registered Nurse I/II, Complex Airway Unit (PM)

Job Responsibilities Maintain understanding of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards; support leadership in compliance efforts; ensure departmental and hospital standards are met. Monitor safety and departmental policies; comply with CMS standards; communicate safety and compliance concerns to leadership. Ensure each staff member meets certification and Safety College requirements promptly. Collaborate with department managers, nurse council and magnet representatives to identify and share safety best practices. Apply systems thinking to care coordination, viewing patient and family within the unit, and supporting family through the healthcare experience. Utilize clinical judgment in caring practices: collect data, follow algorithms, document care plans, focus on patient and family needs, maintain a safe environment, anticipate future needs. Integrate age‑specific and culturally inclusive concepts into patient care, considering developmental functioning. Provide structured education, employing teach‑back to evaluate effectiveness. Engage in clinical inquiry and performance review: follow guidelines, implement evidence‑based practices, seek help as needed, participate in annual goal setting, promote competency and development. Participate in shared governance; contribute to interdisciplinary team meetings and shared decision‑making. Demonstrate interprofessional practice model integration; advocate for patients and families, address ethical conflicts, represent patients when unable to self‑advocate, incorporate cultural inclusion. Job Qualifications Associate/Diploma prepared RN from ACEN, CCNE or NLN CNEA accredited institution. Minimum 2+ years of experience. Active Ohio RN License; other state licensure may be required. Foreign graduates must have license validated through TruMerit per Ohio Board of Nursing code. Must enroll in BSN or MSN program within 1 year if hired without BSN/MSN and complete within 5 years. Preferred: BSN or MSN from accredited institution. Location & Schedule Location: Cincinnati Children’s Hospital; Department: Complex Airway; Shift: 2‑3 shift; Full time FTE 0.9 (36 hours per week).
