Welder

As a welder, you will perform MIG and TIG welding on a variety of materials and components with precision and consistency. You will be responsible for fabricating parts and assemblies according to specifications and accurately measuring materials to meet project tolerances. Your role will involve reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings to ensure accurate builds. Additionally, you will operate welding equipment and overhead cranes, maintain equipment in good working condition, and ensure adherence to safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform MIG welding on various materials with precision.
• Fabricate parts and assemblies according to specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Measure materials using a tape measure to meet tolerances.
• Operate and maintain welding equipment and overhead cranes.
• Lift and move materials up to 50 lbs as needed.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area according to shop safety standards.
• Inspect completed welds for quality and adherence to specifications.
• Perform TIG welding, including on stainless steel, with precision.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in MIG and TIG welding techniques.
• Experience with metal fabrication, including stainless steel.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Strong measurement skills using a tape measure.
• Experience operating welding equipment and overhead cranes.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Certified or willing to be trained/certified in operating overhead cranes.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work in a shop environment for extended periods.

Work Environment

Work in a non-climate-controlled plant, with conditions varying with the weather. The first shift runs from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Thursday, with occasional Fridays until lunch. Steel-toed boots are required, and all other personal protective equipment, including welding hood, gloves, safety glasses, and jackets, is provided.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dothan, AL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
