Step into a rewarding contract opportunity near Sandia Park, NM, supporting the growth and development of young learners as a Special Education Teacher in a K-3rd grade social communication classroom. This is a full-time position, running through the 2026–2027 school year, with approximately 35 hours per week. You’ll make a direct impact while collaborating with dedicated professionals in an engaging environment.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Current New Mexico teaching license and NMPED credentials are required
- Experience as a Special Education Teacher, especially with K-3rd grade students
- Proven ability to support students with social communication needs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, families, and support staff
- Familiarity with IEP development and implementation
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction to students in a social communication classroom setting
- Develop and adapt lesson plans to meet each student’s unique needs and IEP goals
- Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment
- Track progress and maintain accurate, ongoing documentation
- Communicate frequently with families and participate in IEP meetings
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to maximize student success
- Implement strategies and interventions tailored to enhance students’ social and academic growth
