Food Safety And Quality Manager

Global company producing ready-to-eat baby food for infants from 4 months to 3 years. New plant, state-of-the-art equipment supplying customers with a wide range of solid, organic baby food products; pouch fruits, stews, vegetable purees and baby meals. 5 lines, 3-shift, 7-day plant employing 125.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the food safety and quality program for all supplied products and ingredients, working closely with suppliers and purchasing team.
• Develop and enhance a comprehensive, proactive, and effective supplier management program. i.e., raw material specifications of the specified criteria by company specifications. Develop additional company policies regarding raw materials to be used in production and include them in specifications. Develop and manage the risk management and risk analysis process requirements through creation, update, sharing and training.
• Ensure quality assurance monitoring activities and third-party certification programs are effectively executed and properly documented by suppliers. Conduct audits of supplier distribution centers and manufacturing facilities as needed to ensure compliance with company standards.
• Evaluate new product suppliers and monitor existing merchandise to ensure compliance with all applicable company and regulatory food safety and quality assurance specifications and requirements.
• Develop and oversee recall/withdrawal process and drive recall/withdrawal compliance within the company and among suppliers.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in food science or science discipline.
• 4+ years of relevant experience in food manufacturing, supplier auditing, food safety risk management.
• Knowledge of FDA, FSMA, USDA requirements, HACCP systems and processes, and GFSI and other third-party certification schemes.
• Knowledge of handling recalls, withdrawals, and other urgent situations.
• Agronomy knowledge is a plus.
