This exciting opportunity is perfect for a dedicated Special Education Teacher who thrives in a dynamic, transition-focused environment. You will play a key role in supporting young adults (ages 18-21) as they build essential job readiness and independent living skills, both in the classroom and beyond. The position is full-time, onsite, and centered within a vibrant setting where your expertise can make a meaningful difference.
Desired Qualifications:
- Minimum of one year classroom experience in special education
- Current, active CDE license (or documentation showing the process is underway)
- Experience writing and implementing IEPs, collecting data, and creating Behavior Support Plans
- Demonstrated flexibility and ability to work collaboratively as part of a dedicated team
- Commitment to helping young adults maximize independence in academic, workplace, and community settings
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver instruction and guidance to a caseload of 12 students at the Transitions Center, working from 8 am to 4 pm
- Foster independence and job readiness by engaging students in both classroom and community-based learning experiences
- Develop, implement, and track progress on IEPs and BSPs
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with special education requirements
- Collaborate with parents, colleagues, and community partners to support student growth and achievement
- Adapt to varying needs and encourage student engagement in all settings
