Job Summary

TITLE: Hardware Technician

QUALIFICATIONS :

1. High school graduate, or equivalent.
2. Prefer formal technical training experience, A+ certification.
3. Experience with diagnosing, repairing and solving computer hardware, printer and software problems.
4. Experience with office automation applications, Email, Microsoft Office products or similar software is preferred.
5. Prefer experience with student management applications and educational software.
6. Possess a valid Alabama Driver's License.
7. Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama statues and State Board of Education regulations.

FLSA : Non-exempt

REPORTS TO : Director of Technology

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT :

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the system's approved compensation plan.
Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the system.

REQUIRED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

1. Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals and Priorities.
2. Diagnose and solve campus network issues, PC computer hardware and software problems.
3. Assist with the technical and operational issues of the Student Management and Library application software.
4. Assist with the installation of new computer equipment and software.
5. Communicate effectively with school faculty and staff to describe maintenance procedures, to provide understandable instructions, and to describe features of the school's computer systems.
6. Perform routine maintenance on computer systems (cleaning, testing, alignment, etc.).
7. Perform repairs and upgrades in accordance to manufacture suggested guidelines (installing software, software upgrades or patches, replacing disk drives, circuit boards/adapters and other peripheral devices).
8. Install and configure network related equipment, cables and communication devices.
9. Assist with the collection of data for the district office and state reports.
10. Follow supervisor instructions and perform all task assigned.
11. Process and update technical work orders in a timely fashion.
12. Execute all other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Technology.
13. Work cooperatively with the Director of Technology in the areas of acquiring and implementing new technologies and the development of training modules for effective use of technologies by faculty, staff, and students.
14. Assume other reasonable and equitable job-related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

1. Effective oral and written communication skills.
2. Understanding of the goals and objectives of a K-12 organization.
3. High level of personal initiative and ability to work without close supervision.
4. Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups.
5. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; agility and dexterity needed to stoop, bend, lift/move equipment when necessary and to perform technical equipment inspections and/or repairs, including inspection of cabling in floors and ceilings.
6. Physical dexterity, coordination, mobility, and visual acuity to perform the technical task assigned.

EVALUATION :

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on the evaluation of personnel.
